Guest guest
no, no, not sugar free ginger ale...it contains aspartane, which may just make your diabetes worse! (unless of course, you make your own with stevia) windflowervjayd <vjayd wrote: I have been doing quite a bit of research on herbal diabetes remedies and have been using opunitia (also known as nopal or prickly pear cactus) It does definitely lower blood sugar at least temporarily. (Studies are now indicating that long term use can actually have a reversal effect on diabetes). I had been using the Nature's Way capsules but I discovered an hispanic grocery store that sells the cactus plant either whole or cut in strips (the strips are much easier on the hands in handling). I will put the strips, some sugar free ginger ale and some mango juice in the blender and drink it as a smoothie. I was talking to one of the workers in the grocery store and he said they mix it in their eggs and scramble. Opuntia is apparently the diabetic remedy of choice in some South American countries.
