Lemon juice in water is also good for cleaning the build up of deposits.

Just warm it up in the distiller and let sit for a couple of hours or even

overnight.

Actually it is coal tar and no, white vinegar is not a coal tar product. Here is some info:

 

White Vinegarsour liquid that is made by the fermentation of any of numerous dilute alcoholic liquids into a liquid containing acetic acid. The coloring and flavoring are characteristic of the alcoholic liquor (as cider, beer, wine, fermented fruit juices, solutions of barley malt, hydrolyzed cereals, starches, or sugars) from which the vinegar is made.
