Hello Anna,

Being a commercial pilot, your brother's lifestyle must be intensely stressful even if he is 'used to it'.

There are stages in our lives when we go through changes and decide that enough is enough ?

I don't know him but there are still quite a lot of men of his age, simply don't talk about their feelings

believing that either it is not 'done' or as irrational. And other people even those close to them

wouldn't see anything amiss, apart from their sudden flare up temper !

There used to be a book called Passages, I think it could well be out of print now but I know you can

get them from second hand sources which describes different stages of our lives and crises we

may go through. Anyway, too much of even good thing (food) is bound to be bad for most people.

I suppose 'Balance' is the keyword and I am sure he would understand this !

Hmmm 47 - it is not andropause is it ? If soya help to neutralise or reduce menopause, would it not

have the opposite effect for men ???

Forget about GMO for a minute, soya milk processed commecial usually contains some preservatives

(and/or sugar) and that can't be healthy. But if he is constantly on the move, then the other only choice

he has may be to replace it with rice milk, almond milk or other diary milk substitute which are also

fairly commonly available now.

Canned vegetables lose a lot of natural nutrients. I understand frozen vegetables retain more and

doesn't take that much longer to heat up than canned ones (unless he uses microwave then it is

even trickier !!). Though not the same, fruits are generally easier to get anywhere in the world and you

can peel them for food safety. If not, have to hand different types of cereal bars ?

Unhappy to say (because I do love them), Salmon, depends on where it is produced, said to contain

a lot of artificial hormones, more than is safely consumed if one only have this one source of protein

as staple diet !! Trout is similar to salmon and equally delicious, and there are (cod), monkfish, plaice,

sole etc. which are as easily available in restaurant or in supermarket these days. And these are all

delicious. Also am I right to think that, like prawns and other shellfish, Salmon contains a lot of

cholesterol. Even good ones I think if consumed too much would stress the body system.

Both soya milk and Salmon contains a lot of protein. Even if he is into Atkins diet, in nutritional medicine,

food combining is critical. And I don't believe these two are such a great combination. If nothing else

the liver has to work quite hard to cope with them together, being snappy is a sign of having too much

liver heat I think.

These are just a collection of my thoughts, which I hope in some way is useful. The key perhaps is

to affirm it to him that he does have a lot of choices (food and otherwise), he just have to make them !

My very best wishes to both of you.

Cal
