Guest guest
Hi Granny, There is no reason for anyone to eat meat except they choose to believe they need to. You can get all the protein you need from plants. If you choose to eat eggs then at least eat them raw (keeps the enzymes raw). If your muscles are atrophying I seriously doubt that it is from lack of animal protein. How much exercise to you get? Our muscle mass will begin to atrophy as we age due to lack of use. Metabolism slows down as we age and we consume less food. Exercising more will bring up your metabolism so you will better utilize the food you do eat. Now nothing here is carved in stone except aging. Let's face it, cows grow enormous as do elephants and they do not eat animal protein at all. I know we are not cows or elephants but why do we feel we need to eat animals in order to build muscle mass. It just isn't true. Do a web search on raw foodism and you will be surprised by the amount of information that exists talking about eating only raw fruits and vegetables NO ANIMAL PROTEIN, DAIRY, ETC. I think you will find some answers. Don Quai - leo herbal remedies Sunday, November 23, 2003 1:52 AM [herbal remedies] daily protein intake???? i have searched the web and the H_R archives and have been unable to find any information as to how many grams of protein one should consume daily. all i can find is people wanting to sell me some. the labels tell how much is in a serviing, but no suggestion as to what the daily value should be. am i missing something? anybody?? i was concerned, since i eat so little meat, that i ate a big bowl of pinto beans and have undone what good i had done my stomach/reflex. not as bad... but not so good, either it may be from the RA/old age , but my muscles are really atrophying the past 6 months or so. appreciate any information and thanks in advance. (it seems that protein never sits well on my stomach.)Love... Granny Lee Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2. Guest guest
Hi Don, I completely agree with you. Especially after doing the Total Body Cleanse - I can't believe the muscle tone I came out of that program with! Eating nothing but raw organic fruits and veges! The only question I have which I believe might be related to protein, but maybe it's something else is that my husband (who has also done the cleanse) will often get really dizzy when he stands up. The " almost gonna faint " dizzy. He used to be a complete carnivore, but now is mostly raw organic, with some fish and steamed veges. He didn't used to get dizzy like this. Do you, or anyone else on this list have any suggestions? Thanks much! Guest guest
Hi Kelli, Is he taking any cayenne? How much? Is he eating raw garlic? How much? Is he using raw ginger? How much? When a person comes off a dead food diet and onto a predominantly raw food diet their whole body changes. Lowered blood pressure is one of those changes. That is why it is important to continue to take cayenne on a daily basis. Maybe as much as 1 teaspoonful 3x's per day or even more. This will help to keep the circulation stabilized, rebuild arterial walls and just make one feel much better. Garlic has a tendency to lower ones blood pressure but should not be cut out of the diet as it too is needed in so many aspects.
