Guest guest
A few years ago I switched from "normal" (ie, Crest, etc) toothpaste to a couple different types of Weleda brand toothpaste that I get from our local hfs. I started with the "Salt and Baking Soda" one because I remember my mom telling me that brushing with baking soda was good for your teeth/mouth. I used to do that occassionally when I was growing up. I also use their "Pink Toothpaste" which contains the Ratanhia you mention. I use the salt at night to scrape the day out of my mouth, and I use the pink in the morning to scrape the dragon breath out (it tastes fresher than the salt, thus I like it in the morning). The thing that drove me to look for a new toothpaste in the first place was that my teeth were getting ever more sensitive to hot/cold/sweets and I absolutely abhored the idea of the "numbing" pastes that my dentist was recommending. I also don't like the whole fluoride thing. Using the natural stuff, my teeth started feeling better. I knew I was on the right path when, at my next visit to the dentist, the hygienist commented on the fact that I was "lucky to be one of those people that naturally didn't collect much tartar"! I guess she had forgotten over the 6 months that I was the person that normally had to take up TWO cleaning periods just to get my teeth cleaned! It was a complete turnaround! Anyway, back to a subject. I have been trying to replenish some dental floss and have found to my horror, that fluoride is now incorporated into the major brands. Have found one, though that appears to have none and should be compatible with my Ratanhia toothpaste( supposed to be a powerful astringent that grows naturally in the Peruvian Andes, Krameria plant). Using this toothpaste regularly for the last year has put my teeth and gums in tip-top condition. But my question is this:- what is everyone else using? Can anyone tell me what 'natural' toothpaste is being used and if anyone has experienced any problems. Vryland2003
Guest guest
HOW TO MAKE A HERBAL TOOTHBRUSH - by David Hoffman - The Holistic Herbal Choose a straight Marshmallow root and cut it lengthwise into 5 inch/12 cm pieces. Peel the ends and boil in water together with Cinnamon sticks and Cloves until the sticks are tender. Put the pieces carefully, as they break easily, into brandy and let them soak for a day. Take them out and let them dry. Before you use them soak the ends for a short time in hot water. You will not even need to use toothpaste, since all the necessary ingredients are in the root. !!
