Guest guest
Rapadura is also found,at a very reasonable price, in Hispanic markets. It is usually sold in a block that looks like an inverted coffee can, slightly tapered at the top end. Take care. I have also used the whole oats without blending, and it comes out terrific as well.1/2 ts Sea Salt 1 ts Baking Soda1ts Cinnamon1ts Nutmeg1 c Stoneground whole wheat flour 1/3 c Hot fresh squeezed orange juice (an orange in the blender is great)3/4 c Chopped walnuts Melt butter. Blend in sugar and molasses. Mix in beaten eggs and mashed bananas, blending until smooth. Sift flours, spices, salt and soda. Add flour mixture alternately with hot OJ. Stir in nuts. For variations, muffins are great. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes Rapadura Sugar - This sugar is not processed, leaving all of the vitamins and minerals of the molasses in the grains. It retains the nutrients after cooking. Its grains are very large and the sugar is brown. Even though it is still a concentrated sugar, if you are going to use sugar, it might as well be as close to sugar cane as possible. This sugar is not Turbinado. It is dark brown, don't be confused by blond colored "Sugar in the Raw", or regular brown sugar type sugars. One brand of rapadura is Rapunzel and outside the U.S. there is Panela.
