OK Alison,

First, you can buy garlic juice. Which is easier... I've never tried to juice a garlic clove so I cannot attest to the eigth ounce...

Second, why did you put the herbs in olive oil?? Are you making a salve? Which recipe were you making?

OK... you need to slow cook the herbs and olive oil for 4-6 hours or more. (crock pots are good for this)... then strain and add beeswax to consistency you want... If it gets too thick, reheat and add more oil.

BF & C ointment is what I was trying for...Do you think I should start over with c/s herbs. I would hate to chuck this (the powdered herbs), but I don't want to wait 2-4 wks and have it not work.I was thinking of just squishing the garlic in a ... garlic squisher, and then getting the pieces out, but like I said, this is my first experience actually doing this, so I'm not sure that this would work. I didn't see garlic juice at my local herb store, so I saw the reference (lbs/garlic:oz of juice) and figured this was the way it was done. Which brings my back to the issue of 1lb garlic = 1/8 oz juice. That seems such a small amount! Thanks for your help and any additional ideas!Alisonherbal remedies , Suzanne wrote:> OK Alison,> First, you can buy garlic

Allison,

The BF & C formula does not use garlic. The powdered herbs will work wonderfully well for this ointment. Do not worry.

As for the garlic, well when you squeeze garlic you don't get much liquid out. Now if you had a hydraulic press then it might be a different story. Or an apple press. I would think that it would be best to press your garlic into a large bowl that has some cheesecloth or light muslin laid inside and then after pressing all the garlic bring up the ends and sides of the cheesecloth and squeeze out all the juice you can possibly squeeze out.

I would think we have a typo here. I do believe that 1/8 ounce should be more than enough. 64 pounds of garlic is well, a lot of garlic.

What say you Doc? Typo or am I out to lunch here.

[herbal remedies] anti-plague

I have two more questions about making BF & C and anti-plague.

The a.p. calls for 8 ounces Garlic juice Fresh, raw, organic.
