Guest guest
Angel, By the time you start showing any symptoms of cancer it is usally progressed quite far. Not always but usually. Good for you. I do believe you can do it and going cold turkey, in my opinion, is the best way to go. Yep, you got to do it all yourself. However, you do have quite a huge support group here that will be behind you rooting you on to cleaner lungs and better health for you and the baby. When you get that craving stick a straw in your mouth and play like you are smoking. Much better than really smoking and chances are you will get air into areas of your lungs that haven't seen any in a while. Start eating lots of fresh vegetables and fruits too. You can also use a small amount of Lobelia periodically throughout the day when you get really bad cravings. Just don't overdo it. Lobelia is quite similar to tobacco or should I say lobeline is very similar to nicotine in action without the nasty effects. Guest guest
Angel, Good for you!... Get yourself some carrot and celery sticks... and straws... When the crave hits.. grab the carrots or celery... The straws are for if it is the habit of having it in your hand....(and you can chew on the straw...lol). She'd had not one, NOT ONE symptom...this is what got me the most. I always thought that I could quit if I started having breathing or lung problems...and it would be okay. Small cell is the most common type of lung cancer assoc. with smoking. It is very rapid and hard to treat. Unfortunitely when signs do actually show up that almost always means its too advanced to do anything about. So really, to have much success with this type of lung cancer at the very beginning, it would need to be caught accidently, in a way. Yes, scary stuff but I agree w/ you Angel..you would think there would be more symptoms Erin "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled, was convincing the world he didn't exist." - The Usual Suspects
Guest guest
Calamus tea works. Lobelia is good. Works for most, find what works for you. Carrots and celery NEVER worked for me. Finding out when you smoke, and changing that scenario. I smoke when bored. Other times, like after I get home from work, starting to unwind, it's easy to light one up, go out on the deck and muse. Going out on the deck and doing some deep breathing, light meditating, worked for me. Mindless smoking, like when at a computer. That's toothpick time. Try anything, take what works for you. Keep experimenting. The craving will pass, but may never end. One last tip, born-again-ex-smokers are just as disrespectful of themselves as they were when they smoked. My humble opinion anyway..... you go girl! S. -- ________ Sign-up for your own personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup CareerBuilder.com has over 400,000 jobs.
