Guest guest
Kathe, see Don Quai's post.. he is much more knowledgeable than i, and he says that the part that is generally used for injestion is the 'jell' part and it is ok. i can't seem to be able to tolerate even that, but my stomach has always been really sensitive. i can't tolerate aspirine, pork, any fats other than like olive oil, very much beef, iron suplements or milk for that matter, so like i said, it has a lot to do with ones own chemistry. do some research on your own, and try some and see if it seems to agree with your system. it isn't fatally toxic under normal consumption. i don't remember the exact phrase but Dr. Rodale in his book 'Rodale's Illustrated Encyclopedia of Herbs', says that its use as a LAXATIVE has been discarded for human beings as it can cause severe stomach pain.
