All 3 of mine slept on their tummies. Just make sure they have a well fitted sheet and no stuffed animals or blankies in their face.

This is another one of those subjects where you may get all kinds of different answers.

The government and all the medicos say back...

But, I don't agree with that...not for me and mine anyhow.

None of my kids, and I have them from 17 to 6, would sleep on their back.

With my first and second, I worried about it...sure...so, I would put them on their side with a rolled up receiving blanket to their back and one next to their legs in front...but, most of the time after they got to where they could move at all, they'd wiggle until they were on their stomachs...

With my son (the current baby), I just put him on his stomach, making sure his head was to one side or the other. And, I remember with him, he wouldn't even sleep unless the back of his head was covered...

Now, that kind of worried me at first, especially at night, but he did fine and I made sure it was only a receiving blanket that didn't go over his face...A cap would make him mad as all get out, so that was out.

But, this is just how we did it.

I have always 'mommied' from instinct, even long before thinking about a home birth or natural anything...

Some say babies need to be on their back to prevent SIDS or suffocation...but, there just isn't enough evidence for me...and my experience tells ME different.

I feel that I'd rather have them on the side or stomach in case of spit up or vomit. And, I've heard about the head rolling/turning reflex or something to that effect, where they will automatically turn their head if they do spit or vomit, but I just don't trust it...not with a brand new baby.

There again, this is just my own experience and feelings...

This next baby may turn out to WANT to sleep on his back...I'll just have to wait and worry about that, then.

Have a good day,

Angel

What is the best position for baby to sleep? Some says it is on her back, some says on her stomach.

It is not the position you sleep them in that causes SIDS. It is the

off gassing that the mattresses you put them on that causes SIDS/COT

death.

Personally, I would not sleep a baby on it's back, because if they

spit up in their sleep, they could choke to death before you would

know it.
