Since Ms. Suzi also has a full time job and the archives are there to hopefully cut down on repeated postings and we only have a certain amount of space allotted by ..I have taken the time to find one post by Doc (though there are many on raw eggs) that addresses Salmonella as well as other things. Hope neither of you ladies mind, this is message number 40269.

OK, just a quick note to maybe settle this issue.

The article below is quite accurate though not complete.

Raw eggs are best because of the enzymes. In a raw egg, you have all of the proteins (amino acids) necessary to building a body. There are the protein makings of a brain, a liver, a skeleton, and every other organ. A raw egg has the enzymes necessary to process these amino acids. This also holds true for the processing of the cholesterol.

Cholesterol is not the bad word some health "professionals" would have us believe. Too much cholesterol (LDL = Low Density) is not good, but without some cholesterol, we humans can be seen to rapidly age and die. Cooking an egg converts some of the HDL (High Density) cholesterol over to LDL and kills all of the enzymes, but taken in moderation can still be beneficial for a healthy person. I'd never give a cooked egg to an unhealthy person.

You'll never hurt yourself with a raw egg taken in moderation as long as it is certified organic. It is one of nature's most perfect foods.

The chances of anyone coming down with salmonella from a raw "organic" egg is next to nil. Almost all salmonella cases are from either commercial eggs or commercial chicken. I've never heard of a case coming from a natural organic source.

Also, salmonella is usually no more serious than a cold or a fever. Yes, people have died from it, but then again they've died from colds and fevers too. This gets blown way out of proportion.

If you can get your eggs from a farmer, or raise your own, then non-refrigerated is best, as refrigeration will "lower" (not destroy) the enzyme activity. I've kept fresh eggs from just outa th' hen on the counter for months at a time without them going bad.

Remember, if you're really sick, you need to come off even the raw eggs or any heavy animal protein for that matter, as you want the body to focus on "healing" rather than on "digestion". Animal protein is harder to digest than vegetable protein.

You need to be able to think for yourself with this data and listen to your body and what it's telling you. How sick are you??? How healthy are you??? How much exercise do you get daily??? These are questions the individual himself needs to answer as we are all different when it comes to our level of health. There are certain rules that hold true for just about all of us. Some of these rules can be bent, and some can be broken, but it is on an individual basis only that we do so. On the whole, organic raw eggs are a great food for a majority of us.

Hope this helps and clarifies.

Love,

Doc

Suzi,I have read many messages and I did go through the files. Everything was helpful but I can't look up everything in the archives. I work and don't have the time so I am hoping that we can talk in here even if it means you talk about a past conversation again. There was somebody else who asked a question about Pather Piss and you also refered him to the archives. I would rather talk about it here. That's what the list is for.Thank you,Claudette
