Guest guest
Dear Gary, I was just reading today about CoQ-Enzyme being extremely effective in treating gum and periodontal problems. I believe that the recommended dosage was 60 but I will research and see if I can provide a link to the study for you. Also am hearing good things about olive leaf extract used as a tea and swished through the mouth for relief of pain and infection. I have used tea tree oil mouthwash for this problem with good success. I hope this helps you in some way. Blessings and Light, Marilyn
Guest guest
This is not the original site that I was reading the information regarding CoQ-10 and gum disease but it also addresses the same situation. I thought the original source that I had read earlier today was HSIBaltimore but now I cannot locate the info...sigh...oh well, here it is from a differenct source. Marilyn Three dietary supplements, garlic, coenzyme Q10, and aloe vera, are helpful to gum health. Because garlic functions as a natural antibiotic, it can help cut down on gum bacteria. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) may help with periodontal pocket depth. In early research, Dr. Edward G. Wilkinson, of the U.S. Air Force Medical Center, gave patients 50 mg of CoQ10 a day. His patients experienced reduced periodontal pocket depth. Wilson said, "Treatment of periodontitis with coenzyme Q10 should be considered as an adjunctive treatment with current dental practice." Later studies have reconfirmed this. Hanioka, et al., say "These results suggest that the topical application of CoQ10 improves adult periodontitis . . . " (Molecular Aspects of Medicine 15 Supple [1994]) Here is a different reference. At the forefront in CoQ-10 periodontal research is Dr. Edward G. Wilkinson, an Air Force dentist. In his research, Dr. Wilkinson and his team took tissue samples from over 120 dental patients with periodontal disease. These showed a marked deficiency of CoQ-10. Supplements not only stopped the progress of the disease but also initiated what the scientists described as 'extraordinary healing tissue healing in five days which would ordinarily be expected in 10-15 days.' Dr. Wilkinson states, 'Periodontal tissues are deficient in CoQ-10 when they are diseased and appear to require more CoQ-10 to heal. I believe persons suffering from periodontal disease could benefit from coenzyme Q-10 as an adjunct to routine periodontal therapy'. Recent research has shown that periodontal disease is not localised in the gums but is a generalised disease with a heavy involvement of the immune system. Another reason for the success of CoQ-10 treatment of gum disorders is its proven ability to stimulate immune response. Our bodies retain extra supplies of CoQ-10 where they are needed most. Major repositories are the heart, the liver and immune system. Guest guest
Hydrogen peroxide is not good for the enamel on your teeth though, somewhere I believe I read that. I never liked the tooth and gum formula much, sorry guys I tried it for over a year, ect. It doesnt seem to work well to me. But I did try hydrogen peroxide (horrid taste in mouth afterwards but oh well) and salt is great for swelling and killing infection too. Maybe try a tea tree mix in some water and swish around the mouth. The herbs in the tooth and gum formula ARE good for teeth dont get me wrong. If you dont have the formula to try, you could take what you have of them (Echincia tinct, barberry, clove, ect) and add to the mouth rinse. Do you know what the infection is or is from? Also take stuff internally to fight itErin Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2. Guest guest
Hi On Thu, Oct 02, 2003 at 01:00:48 -0700, Gary Thompson wrote: > Hi , I have had a gum infection some kind of swelling , can anyone > recommend a good oral rinse/ antiseptic recipe to help this . > thanks > gary Here's something Doc wrote , about teething !! but it may help you :- Persian (Tooth and Gum formula follows) ---- " " Straight Echinacea tincture applied directly to the gums will help. For those of you who haven't tried a good, potent homemade Echinacea Tincture, you'll discover that it will turn your entire mouth " numb " for about a half an hour. This is excellent for teething. Even better, you should use the Tooth and Gum formula (as in the files) and it will last even longer as far as giving teething relief is concerned. About 40% of the T & G formula is Echinacea tincture so it will deaden the pain immediately. There is also some " Clove Oil " and some " TeaTree Oil " in the formula in small amounts that will continue to deaden the pain so that your baby can get a good night's sleep which is all important. Do not use straight Clove Oil or straight Tea Tree Oil as these can " burn " in an undiluted form. The Tooth and Gum Formula is perfect for this problem and has just the right amount of each ingredient in safe proportions. Love, Doc " " ------------------- Here is the Tooth and Gum Formula from Doc's files :- Tooth and Gum Formula Ingredients: Echinacea, Bayberry, Oak bark, Cayenne, Tea tree oil, Clove oil, and Peppermint oil. Be sure to shake well before each use. 10 oz Echinacea Tincture 1/4 cup of Tea Tree Oil (you can use less of this if sensitive to it as some people are) 4 oz. Bayberry Tincture 2 oz. Oak Gall (or 3X Oak Bark) Tincture 2 TBS. Cayenne Tincture 2 1/2 Dropperfuls of Peppermint Oil 2 1/2 Dropperfuls of Clove Oil ---------
