Guest guest
Ginger is a root (don't know & don't care about the rhizome part either) and you should be successful in growing it in a dish of potting soil. Have you grown bearded iris before? They have similar cultivation habits. To harvest, you'd have to dig it up, break off part of it to use, then re-pot what's left. That's how iris multiplies too - the root makes " toes " from which sprout more plant, and every few years you dig up the whole thing, separate the " toes " and plant them all again. Good luck, this will be fun to have indoors.
