Is the " fresh " ginger is stores a rhizome ? doesn't really matter.

My actual inquiry is on growing it. I know ginger grows just sitting

in a dish and will grow faster if it is in water. I just think the

concept of growing as a house plant is intriguing. Has or does

anyone grow it, and do you have any tips to make it fluorish. Is

it better to put it in potting soil, or put some toothpicks in it

and suspend it in water ??????????????

yes, ginger root.

i grew a couple of them in the past several years. the last one to

about 4 foot fronds. the one before that was a lot larger but didn't

get enough sun so didn't do as well as it might have with better

light.

i just cut a piece from the rizome, allowed it to heal over and

stuck it in a pot of potting soil and kept it moist. it takes quite

a while, but finally it will sprout if not over or under watered.

must have good drainage.

i lost the first one as i became so involved with a soft ware

program i was working on that i neglected it and allowed it to die

of thirst. [:<
