Hi,

My 66 year old mother, otherwise in good health, has been having a

feeling of dehydration/weakness/constipation and states that she feels

like she's going to pass out when she attempts to go to the bathroom.

The Dr's did a battery of tests, NONE which included colonoscopy.

Anyone ever hear of this or have any advice while she awaits her next

test?

Thanks in advance

Jennifer

Plenty of water and gatorade to keep her hydrated. And keep her as cool as

possible.

Rather than gatorade which has lots of artificial junk

in it and more sugars than necessary...try Elete water

in her drinking water. It contains only essential

elecrtrolytes and nothing artificial. Hydration will

also help with constipation.

www.eletewater.com and locate a retailer nearest you.

Hi Jennifer,

Sounds like she may have excess heat in her system. That would

cause the dehydrated feeling and the constipation. The weakness she feels may

be due to the toxins that are still in her system since she isn't eliminating

the way she should. Sometimes as we age our body losses the energy to rid

itself of wastes due to Cold ( yes even though there is heat in another part of

our body) so we try harder, this could be the reason she is having that " feeling

of passing out " while trying to defecate. These suggestions are from an

Oriental Medicine point of view. I would suggest she see an Acupuncturist for

better evaluation. Its hard to give more suggestions without knowing more about

her condition. I know some think that more water is what will help

constipation, but sometimes it can be just the opposite..where instead of water,

a person would eat dry foods so that the food is chewed better, more enzymes

would be used to digest the food and the walls of the

intestines would start to lubricate themselves therefore making elimination

easier. I wish you the best in helping her... Let me know if you've tried any

recommendations and if they helped any.. Peace, Peggy

I may suggest one aspect from my side. Her daily diet should include 2 bananas+1

apple. She may take natural psyllum with water and also 'Triphula'(ayurvedic) at

bed time. Before going to toilet, she may take Nux Vomica 30(Homeo Remedy) and

drink 4-5 glasses of lukewarm water. Bend a little, push in the center and lower

part of the stomach upto the back, rotate clockwise and anticlockwise few timer.

She will herslf feel the urge and evacuation will not be a problem.

She shoud take 8-10 glasses of water/day Water should be normal and not cold..

She should avoid carbonated beverages, and should not take water with meals.

Granted that I am not a medical person, and I'm assuming they touched

on all the logical causes. A colonoscopy does sound like a good choice.

Did they do a CAT scan? How about an upper GI with small bowel follow

through? How is her iron level and sugar level? How is her O2 level?

The only thing I can reccomend would be to present any and all

possibilities to your Dr. Is she going to a GP or a Gastroenterologist?

Good thing she is being tested. A Fiber-One Bar daily, along with the

fluids, although commercial, may do wonders for moving things along ;`)

Hi Jennifer,

My mother is a nurse in a GI practice and she always recommends that

people supplement with fiber. Your mom can take it twice a day adn

always be sure to have her drink enough water (64oz per day)if she

doesnt ake enough water she will become more dehydrated. She will

experience relief within 2 weeks but usually a few days. My whole

family takes psyllium husk (Konsyl) fiber and we have extremely

satisfying BMs (no TP needed!) You can get it at any grocery store or a

natural food store.

A colonopcopy is probably a good idea but in the mean time I hope this

hels

cheers
