Guest guest
>Andrew, Ive heard that Arnica is not good for a person......is this true? ~D Good Morning, D, Thank you for your question. THE GOOD OF IT: The information you read or hear about DOES NOT pertain to HOMEOPATHIC arnica. The homeopathic remedy taken orally has no side effects, no known interactions or contraindications. Topical arnica is wonderful for pain relief, either in gel, creams or salves. As a topical agent, arnica helps to relieve the pain and swelling of sprains, bruises and similar injuries. Preparations should contain no more than 15% of arnica oil or 25% of arnica tincture, because higher strengths are more likely to irritate the skin. Application should be once or twice a day and arnica should be used only for as long as needed. THE BAD OF IT: Taking HERBAL arnica (plant, leaves, roots) by mouth is not recommended because it may cause a sudden, potentially dangerous increase in blood pressure. It contains varying amounts of chemicals known as sesquiterpene lactones that may cause possibly serious irritation of the mouth and gastrointestinal system. Although it is approved in very small amounts as a flavoring agent, arnica is not safe when taken orally. Herbal arnica should not be taken by mouth. I hope this clears things up.
