Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'd love to hear some feedback on EMT. I've been a Hypnotherapist for years and wonder... could it all be as easy as " tapping " ? Are you a practitioner using it with good results? Are you a client enjoying the benefits of EMT? It would be great to hear a few testimonials as I consider adding this modality to my " medicine bag " . Thank you! Michelle
Guest guest
Michelle, I am a hypnotherapist but my primary modality is EFT. The method is simple but yields rapid and profound ....and permanent....results. I do most of my EFT sessions over the phone. I have also experienced the power of EFT as a client. My introduction to EFT was what Gary Craig calls a " one minute miracle " ....in one or two rounds of EFT, my crippling winter driving anxiety was gone forever. i have other one minute miracles since then. There are many ways to work with EFT and it's as much an art form as doing hypnosis. You learn by experience and continuing study and it helps to do some personal EFT work with a practitioner so that you get the feel for how it works in the field. My clients LOVE EFT. The ones who do their homework get the best results, but everyone gets some benefit. I think that combining the hypnosis work with EFT is a powerful combination and the clients love it. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Wow, you sure caught my attention by saying that you eliminated your winter driving anxiety, Debbie. I never was fond of driving in the winter, but I think I finally went on overload when I drove a scary 8 hours through the end of a blizzard to get my son, then came back the next day in an even worse storm. Took me 12 hours of straight driving to get back then, and, since, it gets harder and harder to make myself drive in the smallest amount of bad weather. Can you tell me more? I know about EFT and have tried it sort of casually but didn't notice any changes. I usually focus on positive thinking and affirmations so I find myself a little uncomfortable with the set up statements that acknowledge the problem. Guest guest
Cindy, I don't know if the original source of my winter driving anxiety was from several spinouts on black ice with my then-baby in the back car seat, or if it was from an earlier experience. What i do know is that over time, the anxiety built and built until one day I had a full blown paralyzing fear of driving even if there were one flake of snow out there! By then, both my husband and I had four wheel drive, four studded snow tires, subaru wagons. My anxiety was so bad that, at the sight of a snow flurry, i would refuse to go to work, losing the day's pay..........and I would harrass my husband (anxious that something bad would happen to him in the snow) until he agreed to stay home,too...missing his day's pay as well. That's kind of serious, yes? And we live in western Massachusetts, so winters mean snow and ice. In September of 2000, my friend who is a psychologist, was learning EFT and looking for guinea pigs to practice with. In my first session of EFT, the whole issue collapsed and I've been cool as a cucumber in nasty weather and on the roads ever since! A few months later I was caught on several miles of sudden icing on a NJ highway...no problem! I just breathed, and enjoyed my calm and focus, and noticed i wasn't white knuckling or anything. How awesome is that?! I spent five years apprenticing with this guy and then did a lot more training with other EFT masters. EFT , by the way , will not remove HEALTHY caution or healthy emotion....it does neutralize and clear the excess, negative pieces. For example, if there were an ice squall or a blizzard, i would not go out because that makes sense....but if I were caught in a storm, I would do whatever makes sense (drive slow and safe and calm)(or pull off the nearest exit and find a place to wait it out) (or pull off to the side of the road ). Stating the problem (the negative) is actually one of the peculiar geniuses of EFT! So don't let that scare you off!!! The negative is really a part of you that wants attention and that has a positive purpose for you, even if misdirected. By saying hello to and acknowledging that part, you open the way for dialogue, self love and understanding. What you resist persists.......so bring it out into the open where you can see what you are dealing with! I can't tell you how many clients I have had who complained that their affirmations " weren't working " ....and then were able to enjoy the positive work of their affirmations after doing some EFT. Why? Because if you don't reveal and satisfy the hidden saboteurs (i.e. those negative thoughts and behaviors and feelings), they get stronger every time you do a positive affirmation. They are in the subconscious mind , attached by association (dissonance or resonance) to the object of your affirmation. (If I have nasty judgements about people who are rich, then every affirmation I make for myself to be rich will trigger that judgment....and my lovely subconscious mind will attract more and more poverty to me than riches because it doesn't want me to be one of those " awful, greedy, selfish rich people " ....right?). The beauty of the basic EFT work is that you acknowledge all those negatives.......and " completely love and accept yourself " ....anyway! There is a lot more to EFT than just the very basics you might have tried out. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Michelle, I teach Viniyoga and EFT, and have great results with EFT alone or combining the two. And yes, it can be really as easy as tapping, although with some issues you have to dig to ferret out the core issues - something I imagine you're trained to do as a hypnotherapist. In Gary Craig's " Steps Toward Becoming the Ultimate Therapist " video, one woman uses EFT on a client while the client is under hypnosis. Apparently that works pretty well for her, too. If you haven't used or tried EFT on yourself, I highly recommend downloading the free manual from emofree and start experimenting with it yourself. Gary's website also has tons of case studies that are well worth browsing through. There are also some other sites out there that will help you get started without spending a dime - including one of my own eftEmotionalFreedomTechnique.com which has a short tutorial on the main page. I've also got a summary of some of the studies on EFT. Once you've experienced it, you'll start to understand it's potential within the way you want to work with your clients. There are a lot of newsletters, videos and books - and even some workshops - out there to help you learn some more sophisticated, elegant, and simplified techniques. At the very least, I recommend learning EFT for yourself. I doubt you'll be disappointed. Guest guest
Thanks for this, Debbie (and thanks to Michelle, too, for your post). Just reading about your experience made me feel a bit of anxiety creep in. I hate that; I've been able to reinvent my life and restore my health and so on, but this one hangs on. I tried to get rid of it with Reiki treatments and something else, but that didn't put much of a dent in it. I would love to drive on wintry roads with the sense of calm you describe. I really appreciate the way you explained the set up/negative statements. That makes a lot of sense to me now. I agree that you can repeat positive affirmations, and that helps, but sometimes there are things in which the negative is still shouting underneath, eroding the good you're trying to instill in your heart and mind. Long ago, I had downloaded the whole manual and tried EFT on several things but didn't see any progress. I didn't try it on the winter driving anxiety, though. I don't think I had that at the time I tried EFT. Can this be as easy as one session with someone who truly knows what they are doing? Thanks again; it feels really good to know that I can conquer this, Cindy , " Deborah Yaffee, CH,CN " <deborahyaffee wrote: > > Cindy, > > I don't know if the original source of my winter driving anxiety was > from several spinouts on black ice with my then-baby in the back car > seat, or if it was from an earlier experience. Guest guest
Cindy, We never know what problem will resolve in one session but even if it takes a few, that certainly is faster than several months or years to have a positive change in your life. It sounds to me that you might give an EFT practitioner a try and see what happens. Many of us work over the phone with this technique. You might try regular hypnosis as well....fears and Phobias resolve very quickly with regular hypnosis. Why not give some of this a chance.... and drive with confidence this winter?!! Dare to be surprised! Debbie Y
