Over the past few months, I've been craving salt. I just find it so

weird as I've always been a " choco-holic " and I loved my sweets. I

couldn't even tell you the last time I had a candy bar. When I get up

in the morning, I don't even want cereal...just something salty.

I've also put on some weight (most likely due to the salt??). It's

been very frustrating. Plus, the doctor is monitoring a uterine

fibroid I have. My skin has also been extremely itchy and very dry.

Could any (or all) of this be somehow related to something? It's just

very frustrating and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light

on it for me.

Thanks!

I just did a quick search and came up with this :

But I crave salt.

A craving for salty foods may be a symptom of adrenal exhaustion, especially in

people who live fast-paced, stressful lives. If this is the case, it is

recommended that eating food high in vitamin C is helpful (citrus, pepper and

broccoli) and potassium (parsley, garlic, spinach and carrot). Salt cravings

can also be a symptom of serious conditions such as diabetes, high blood

pressure and sickle cell anemia, so if you crave a lot of salt, you should

really see your doctor and get a complete physical.

Hope you figure out what is going on.

best regards

Your body is speaking to you clearly, indeed. Are you experiencing tumors that

bleed?

Are you periods heavier now? Would you say that you recharge by being alone or

in the

company of others? Your craving for and subsequent intake of salt is the dry

and itchy

skin factor. Shrinkage of fibroids is possible with homeopathic medicine. I

would like a

few more indicators, therefore the above questions.

Diane,

Here's a little something from an article I have in my files. It may or

may not ring true for you. Also, I just want to encourage you to use

good salt rather than Morton or even Hain (which has the same anti-

caking ingredients). I like Real Salt (http://www.realsalt.com) and of

course, perhaps the best of them all is Himilayan.

Have you ever been aware of a strong craving for salt? It is most

commonly observed when people are under stress. We have observed that a

craving for salt is often due to an adrenal insufficiency, as indicated

by low levels of sodium and potassium levels as indicated on a hair

analysis.

One of the important hormones produced by the adrenal glands is

aldosterone; a steroid hormone that helps regulate osmotic balance by

causing sodium retention in the body. When adrenal activity is low,

less aldosterone is produced. This results in an excessive loss of

sodium through the kidneys.

Diane,

The symptoms you list are all common in perimenopause. Including the

(possible) adrenal exhaustion you're experiencing (the salt cravings).

Balance your hormones (estrogen dominance) and the symptoms will likely

decrease and/or vanish.

Salt cravings come from a deficit in minerals in the

bdody. Especially potassium. Cell salts are excellent

for mineral deficiency.

www.eletewater.com sells natural electolytes that help

to replace minerals lost in diet and exercize. You add

the drops to your water. There are no colorings, no

preservatives or additives. Just minerals/elecrolytes

the body needs.

I've noticed a huge difference in my salt cravings and

no longer have restless legs when I'm using these

drops in my water.

Try a magnesium complex or magnesium and calcium supplement.

Magnesium is sodium (the good kind) and being low in this also makes

you crave chocolate. Muscle test to determine how much magnesium

you need.

Dear Diane

Your salt craving is nothing but imbalance of salt in your body and thats the

reason why you are getting itchiness in your skin. However, if you are

interested to treat your problem in homoeopathy, you may log me on
