Guest guest
Thanks so much Toni. I won't put the extract in my eyes for sure. I did buy some dried leaves and I'll use them to make the eyedrops. The eyewash is very refreshing isn't it -my eyes have never felt this good. They were always dry and scratchy but with eyebright drops they feel so much better and I'm not rubbing tham all the time. Thanks so much for your help.I'm a beginner and I appreciate your help so much Glenda - " Toni Roberts " <TRobertsLMT Thursday, May 10, 2007 12:09 AM Re: Eyebright Question I have purchased Nature's Way Eyebright in capsules, opened the capsules and made the tea. I think it was a good decision to avoid putting the extract in your eyes. Even if the alcohol evaporated off quickly, some residue might remain. I, too, like the way my eyes feel after the eyewash -- refreshed. Guest guest
Glenda, My experience is limited also, but I really like the eyebright. I used it with capsicum (red pepper) by Natures Way, called EB-C, but I can't get it anymore. It took a lot of courage to do the eyewash but burned just a little for just a minute. Capsicum enhances circulation and is often used to drive herbs faster through the bloodsteam. That's why I asked if anyone knew why it wasn't available anymore, if there had been any problems. Since I don't know how much capsicum to add to the tea, I'm also hesitant to try to formulate it at home. Perhaps someone else knows. Perhaps I'll try just the eyebright as I haven't used the wash for a while. My family used boric acid and I tried to find it, but could only find some already mixed. I didn't want to put stale water in my eye, so I passed on it. Toni On 5/10/07, Glenda <mckee_susang wrote: > > Thanks so much Toni. Guest guest
Dr. Christopher's infusion recipe from http://www.herballegacy.com/id532.htmcalls for: One part each** ** * * *bayberry bark * *eyebright herb * *golden seal root * *red raspberry leaves * *1/8 part cayenne* Looks intriguing. John Christopher is also known as the Father of American herbalism. I believe he trained in Canada and practiced in Utah when he wasn't in jail. Although he was passed away, I was able to take a course with one of his videos. The quality left something to be desired, but it was him lecturing and he seemed like a wonderful man. He was occasionally jailed for practicing medicine without a license and met some of the other giants of his time -- Reams, Jensen, and I can't remember the others. They ended up sharing information. I bet if you poke around the herballegacy.com site, some of his stories will be there. In the video he spoke about how he got his formulas, including the famous bone, flesh, and cartilage (BF & C, now BF & S - sinew) through dreams and prayer and how they seemed to be more effective when the need was greatest. Guest guest
Toni, thankyou so much. I will visit that site and look around and even do a google search for more information. This recipe looks simple enough even for me so I'm going to find try and find these other herbs and try this infusion Thankyou so much Glenda - " Toni Roberts " <TRobertsLMT Saturday, May 12, 2007 2:01 AM Re: Toni Re: Eyebright Question Dr. Christopher's infusion recipe from http://www.herballegacy.com/id532.htmcalls for: One part each** ** * * *bayberry bark * *eyebright herb * *golden seal root * *red raspberry leaves * *1/8 part cayenne* Looks intriguing.
