Guest guest
Hello all, I have a question. Is there anyone out there who can guide me to natural treatments for rotator cuff issues? I started to have pain and limited mobility about 1 year ago and this year I am in constant pain day and night no matter what i do with it. Since I have an 18 mos and 3 mos babies I really need to get my movement less painful, but not sure how to go about it. My MD. told me it needs surgery but I have no insurance and really want to avoid surgery any how. I would appreciate any help. I also have had this strange rash on my arms and neck/chest area. I have had it since Jan. 06, it got better then came back worse yet. I do have allergies but have not been in contact with anything new. Stress is a possibility, I have been using over the counter creams and have seen 2 MD. who gave me zyrtec and other antihistimines as well as a steroid treatment (in 06). I have only been using creams the last few months. I only had a problem with rashes 1x before 06 which cleared up with steroid and antihist. I would sure appreciate any help you can give on these issues. I thank you in advance for your thoughts... Susan Hope all is well with you and yours. Guest guest
As a massage therapist and healer by trade, my recommendations for the rotator cuff issues would be to do two things: One, if you are carrying your babies in the same arm all the time, switch off arms once in a while. Or invest in one of those backpack style carriers for the littlest one. I reckon the 18 month old is just raring to walk on her own, if not run most of the time, right? HE HE HE So she can stand a little walking, especially if it is just around the house most of the time. That should help get rid of some of the physical stress on your shoulder. Two, find yourself a good massage therapist. There are many who are willing to work on trade if you cannot afford to pay for regular masage treatments. If you don't go to a spa or chiropractor's office, a lot of the therapists working for themselves are willing to work in this basis, especially if they have children...think babysitting for massage work, perhaps? Massage therapists are the subject matter experts when it comes to muscles and muscle pain issues. One thing you do have to keep in mind though -- if this shoulder has torn or dislocated parts, ligaments or muscles, the average massage therapist isn't going to be willing to get intensely involved with the area in question. Sometimes doctors do recommend surgery when it may not be necessary, but I would like to know a little more about how this all came about and what drove you to the doctor's office in the first place before making any other recommendations. Sometimes there are very good reasons why surgery is recommended to a patient, but I still would like to know more. I too am not entirely convinced that it's necessary. Another thing you can try is lots of ice on the area which hurts for up to 15 minutes at a time...think 15 minutes of icing, 20 minutes of not icing -- to make sure that the blood flow is not blocked and the tissues don't freeze -- and yes, if you are not careful it can happen. I know the icing thing sounds nuts, but ice cools the inflammation caused by the sore or hurt areas causing the pain which in turn gets rid of some if not all the pain...at least temporarily. If you'd like to pursue this further, please contact me off list and let me know more about what happened. I will be more than happy to help you out in any way I can. Guest guest
Dear Susan You can see that the problem is cycling, it has occoured right after pregnanacy, it is causing pain and weakness along with a rash. This is called Dermatomyositis. It can be fully treated, Your MD should give you a short course of steroids, you need to take Flaxseed oil. For more info check www.cidpusa.org Thanks Dr KHANBB , Susan Porter <porterwk2001 wrote: > > > > Hello all, I have a question. Guest guest
Take hyaluronic capsules to moisturize the joints and use Arnica cream or gel topically plus the little Arnica pellets internally by BOIRON as directed on pkg.for pain. Also soak in a tub with 2 cups Epsom Salts for at least 20 minutes at least once a day. The Epsom Salts are magnesium absorbed through the skin. Make sure the shoulder is in the water. Also take a Magnesium supplement and MSM too. MSM is cheap at feed stores for livestock and is powdered. You can cap it yourself or just put some in honey and swallow it. Hope you will get over this stuff . the rash does not sound as though what you are doing for it helps much. Try red clover, calendula, comfrey, prunella (heal all), chickweed as teas to rinse with and leave on skin and also to drink or get the creams of same if available. These are all suggestions. You will have to try and see what works best for you. A rash generally means that you are toxic and need to do a liver cleanse. the teas above either single or combined would help with that but the best thing for the liver is Dandelion Root and can be taken as a tincture or extract for fast absorption. I hope that you will find a mothers helper in the meantime. Sometimes teenagers that need a little extra money will help.
