Guest guest
Hi, Diane! I don't know about the whole Indigo children thing -- that " movement " (might be too strong a term for it) has been around for a while. The only problem I have with it is that many parents say " my kid's an Indigo " and then they stop trying to give their children boundaries, etc. If the term had been around when I was young I probably would've been labeled that. I daydreamed - couldn't focus. If I had been taught outside I probably would've paid a lot more attention to things. Some kids just take longer to mature. In the 8th grade I almost flunked math. Then suddenly in the 10th grade it all of a sudden " made sense " and I made A's and A+'s from there on out. The first time I went to college I had no interest. When I returned some years later I graduated with honors. Now days schools and teacher can't deal with the variety of kids in their classes, either because the classes are already too big, or because of the pace of the curriculum. There's just not any room for a child whose learning curve or behavior isn't malleable enough! At her age I certainly would NOT give her drugs, she doesn't seem unruly. And I doubt if she's not teachable. We all mature at different rates -- and in some areas she's probably mature beyond her years. Frankly, I'm losing faith in a lot of public education (sad, because I think mine was really, really good). I think now days all children need supplemental education at home. Hugs to you and your children! Dede
