Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm sorta new to this list. I've been lurking and learning for a while but never posted. I have hyperthyroid and am looking for alternative methods to treat it rather than the RAI that has been recommended by doctors. I would like opinions and advice on natural or alternative diagnostic tools too. I have talked to some alternative health providers and one of the first questions I have is, what about Electrodiagnostic, Electrodermal ? It's very hard to determine what is a scam and what is valuable. It's been recommended to me to have Electrodermal diagnosis but I've read a lot of bad things about it. Is it a scam or real? Anything else anyone can suggest to me? I am not sure what type of alternative health care person to go to or what to look for. I don't know the difference between holistic, naturopath, alternative doctors etc.. , are they all the same thing or equally as good? Who should I go to? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Look for an ND (naturopath) or an MD who is a member of ACAM. Find one at www.acam.org. You can diagnose thyroid (hypo/hyper) problems with a basal temperature test. Ask if you'd like detailed instructions. Guest guest
Thank you Linda, I went to ACAM and there are no doctors listed in my area. I found a couple naturopaths in the phone book. I'll call them. Is there anything I should ask them about their practice, techniques or themselves? I have already been diagnosed by a doctor but I have read about the basal temperature test and will try it too. Thank you for the suggestions. If anyone else has any you can write me privately too if you wish. Rita On Apr 19, 2007, at 8:47 PM, wrote: > Look for an ND (naturopath) or an MD who is a member of ACAM. Guest guest
I would say just ask them whatever you want to know and notice how you feel about them and what they say. I usually do best when I let my intuition guide me. Guest guest
Hi, I suffer from the opposite problem, hypothyroid. For now some things you can do on your own is eat more of the foods they tell us with underactive thyroid to avoid. For you they should have the opposite effect of slowing it down. The other thing to watch for is iodine sensitivity. So beware of iodized table salt. Here is a link to a food list. http://www.suite101.com/lesson.cfm/18912/2313/3 Good Luck! energyangelica On 18 Apr 2007 19:08:30 -0700, Rita Greslin-Ricard <dwinds wrote: > > Hi everyone, > > I'm sorta new to this list. Guest guest
You might also consider MACA, a thyroid balancing super food from the high Andes. It is literally as safe as cabbage, it is a member of the turnip family. Dr Viana Muller had a conversation about Maca on with thyroid expert Mary Shomon. I hope this link works, otherwise Google both names. http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/viana-muller-herbs.htm Ien in the Kootenays http://freegreenliving.com (my 360) http://wildhealing.net (my rainforest store)
