My daughter, age 8, has an recurring UTIs & incontinence problems.

I've read online about cranberry juice & even supplements with nutmeg

in them that is supposed to help. Does anyone know of anything else

that could help?

There may be a number of structural conditions at play here. If you haven't

already done

so, I recommend that your doctor be consulted.

In the short run, bathing in bubble baths can often irritate and cause UTI's;

also improper

wiping of her bottom, irritating detergents, clothing that is too tight or that

is not made

from natural fibers can add to the potential for UTI's.

Not having the specifics of her case, I would recommend the often-effective

homeopathic

remedy, Cantharis. At first signs of symptoms, try 6c Cantharis, three pellets,

four times

daily for three days.

Hope this helps.

Wendy,

Couple of thoughts here:

Fresh cranberry juice with no sweetners is wonderful

for UTI, flushing, and water retention. Take 1 bag

fresh cranberries and add to boiling water. Remove pan

from burner and let sit till skins pop. Strain berries

and let juice cool. Use Stevia to sweeten. You can add

more water to dilute if necessary. I use this at the

first sign of bladder irritation or distress.

Also how your daughter wipes after she goes to the

bathroom will make a difference. She should be wipping

from front to back. Often times UTI's will be caused

when women and girls wipe from back to front

introducing the bacteria etc from the bowels into the

Urethra area.

Another thought is that she could be allergic to the

toilet tissue you use. Often times perfume and dyes

can create allergic reactions that bring on UTI's.

My mother is one of those that has that problem. Pure

white tissue with no perfume or colorings. You could

even use one of the green product papers that doesn't

have the chlorine used to bleach it.

Good Luck

IT sounds like unfortunately your daughter has a uti that likely has never

been fully resolved when it first came on. Have her specimen *accurately *

tested and for sensitivity by a lab that follows Fuggazzottos's guidelines

or send for a mail away test to the Cystitis Research Center. They will

accurately give you the pathogen you are facing. Aside from that I would

look for an alternate practitioner with a rife machine and get her treated

once the pathogen is known. IN the meanwhile keep her on d/mannose and keep

fluids going through her and consult your dr about giving her some uristed

(OTC) to ease symptoms. If you do not finally cure this is can cause her

pure hell the rest of her life. TO for think your obvious question...no

not any lab will do and many give inaccurate results. I've lived

this....please listen. To not eradicate this can mean bacterial infiltration

into the kidneys as well.....nip it off at the pass.

you may reply directly if you wish.

You can try giving her Uva Ursi supplements, but it

should be only continued for one week. To get to the

root of the problem instead of just treating the

symptoms, however, I would suggest you consult a

homeopath. There are a number of remedies that can

eradicate what is causing the recurring infections.

-The cranberry juice leaves an 'acid ash' which is unfriendly to most

UT bacteria. Popcorn is also good. Just in case the basics haven't

been reviewed, please make sure she is wiping front to back, using no

bubble baths, and that she uses cotton panties. Adequate fluids.

Also, there may be aggravating activities that she does, i.e. anything

that rubs that area riding bikes or horses alot. Have you given her

an opportunity to talk about what she may have been doing prior to

these occurrences? Are there any patterns?

At your local health food store. Start off with acidophillus. You can

also eat regular yogurt. NOT the stuff that has all the fruit, corn

syrup and sugar added.

Dandelion capsules of the root and leaf will help a lot. If using cranberry

get the fresh frozen caps or unsweetened pure cranberry juice. Parsley also

helps.

Keep sugar to a minimum in the diet.

If this keeps up she should be examined by a Naturopathic Dr.
