Guest guest
Hi, all -- my son (15) has had, for a many months, tinea in his scrotal area. We first used an over the counter drug to treat it (lamisil), but that didn't provide any help. He was also zinc deficient at the time, but supplementation of zinc only helped moderately. He finds it especially bad in the middle of the night, when he'll wake finding him scratching the inflamed area, making it worse. We have used calendula gel (boiron brand), nappy rash cream (weleda brand), both with no results (the calendula gel has helped relieve the itchiness, the nappy rash cream made it worse) so far, with mixed results. Does anyone have any other advice? Thanks Andrea NZ
Guest guest
Be sure to keep it COOL and DRY. Blow dry after a shower from a distance 8 to 12 inches etc. Use Talc or even better some anti-fungal foot powder on his scrotum along with some OTC cream. Also look out for his diet Sugar will feed the fungus (and other stuff) see how his gastro system is working, that is a hiding place for breeding them and sending them out. . .. Guest guest
My doctor suggested to me once for a similar condition under my breasts to use athletes foot medicine. It worked for me, but I don't know if it will for you. Its the best I can think of. Good luck. --- Andrea Gauland <dreaquince wrote: > Hi, all -- my son (15) has had, for a many months, > tinea in his > scrotal area. Guest guest
Tea Tree Oil is a natural parasitic and fungal. I'd use that rather than the Lamasil etc which has other ingredients that aren't so nice to absorb. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for their advice on my son's possible tinea. We went to a medical herbalist yesterday, and he suggested that it was candida, not tinea, and that my son should be tested for leaky gut syndrome, which we are going to do next week. We have tried most of the suggestions, but none have really helped relieve the itching, but my son said he's just going to put up with the itching till we see the naturopath next week. Kind regards Andrea NZ
Guest guest
Try pure aloe vera gell either scraped from inside the leaf of a living plant, (best) It is a miracle for any skin problem and will heal fast. or buy it as pure as possible. " Lily of the Desert " has pure organic aloe on the Internet and will help find a store near you that carries it. (They don't sell it ) Peace Thyme ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
