Thanks. Beth Dear Beth, What a horrid thing to hear, and how lucky your daughter in law is to have a mother in law who will look to alternatives for her! To start with: Gift your daughter in law the classic book " Anatomy of an Illness " by Norman Cousins. You may have heard of the man who cured himself of a serious disease with the help of laughter and vitamin C. The disease was Ankylosing Spondylitis. Ankylosing Spondylitis is an auto-immune disease. ALL auto-immune diseases benefit from certain health-building measures that may not bring a cure, but that can totally improve quality of life. So-called leaky gut syndrome often plays a role. Candida Albicans infestation often plays a role. Healing the gut, getting the digestive system in tip-top shape, and cleansing the blood stream with the help of enzymes with and in between meals is a great way to start building health. Flooding the body with anti-oxidants and dense whole foods is another harmless measure. Making sure the body is alkaline is good. Please remember that different healing substances agree with different people. Many of us have our pet substances, and some of us benefit financially from some recommendations. Here is my recommended reading material for you to get started with. http://osiris.sunderland.ac.uk/autism/gut.htm A great explanation of " leaky gut syndrome " . Thanks, Google! http://enzymestuff.com A great generic website on healing with enzymes. Also recommended: articles on this topic by Dr. Jon Barron. Dr Jon has a great website and his excellent e-book is free for the download. http://jonbarron.org If I had auto-immune disease I would consider getting his proteolytic enzymes, even though I already have good enzyme formulas from 2 companies I deal with. In the realm of herbs, please read the article by Dr Viana Muller on the amazing Amazon herb Una de Gato or Cat's Claw. " Gato " is anti-inflammatory and immune modulating. It appears to be helpful for auto-immune conditions and for conditions where the immune system needs a boost. Dr Viana Muller's website is here: http://wholeworldbotanicals.com While you are there, read up on Camu Camu as well. Camu Camu is the world's most concentrated form of natural vitamin C. I love the information on Dr Muller's site, but I would get Una de Gato and Camu elsewhere. Brief commercial warning: the first recommendation that follows is my business. I sincerely believe that the spagyrically extracted Una de Gato from Amazon Herb Company is the best on the market. You can find it here: http://wildhealing.net As for Camu Camu, I am NOT going to suggest my own AHC product. Pure Camu is superb, and I love it, but a decent product is available in bulk from http://naturalzing.com If you buy a kilo it is a fraction of the price of Pure Camu. Please keep us posted on her progress! Ien in the Kootenays http://freegreenliving.com
