Sorry this is a late reply. I had put it aside to answer in depth,

then we got a brief spell of glorious weather and I was outside.

< So, how many vitamins should i take? I'm taking only 1 until i hear

different. I tend to not trust what the doctor's say and this will

probably

rub off on other things for awhile. But, you seem to know what Spirulina

does and highly recommend it. I will take what you think is best for me.

Thank you so much!!>

Dear Carol,

I am NOT a doctor! I am just a reasonably well-informed

Reflexologist who eats algae daily. I cannot decide what is

best for you, and for that matter, neither can your doctor.

YOU must learn to feel for yourself what is the best, OK?

Spirulina and other algae like chlorella and AFA are FOOD.

Dense, concentrated, complete food from the bottom of the

food chain.

Because it is FOOD, you get to just play with it! That doesn't

mean you can't overdo it in the short term. Ask anyone who

drinks too much prune juice. It just means you won't do real

harm.

If you take too much of an intense green food all at once you

may end up with an unpleasant cleansing reaction.

If that happens, just ease off till you feel normal again, start

over with a smaller amount, and slowly work your way up

till you reach the amount that works best for you.

Half a gram of Spirulina is very little. Feel free to take lots

more, as long as it agrees with you.

Paul Pritchard in " Healing with whole foods " names 5 to 10

grams as a standard portion. I am avoiding the word " dosage " .

Medicine comes in a dosage. Food comes in portions.

He recommends using powder and mixing it with a drink.

I don't know enough about the NOW brand to comment on it.

If I were to take Spirulina, I would go for CyanoTech, mainly

because Mike Adams of http://newstarget.com recommends it.

It is organically grown in a way that makes sure you get the full

compliment of trace minerals.

The algae I use is wild bluegreen algae from Upper Klamath Lake

in Oregon. It is more potent, and a little of that goes much further.

Paul names 1 or 2 grams as the standard dose.

I have been taking 2 grams daily for the last 10 years, and continue

to bless the friend who brought it to my attention.

All 3 edible micro algae (Spirulina, chlorella, AFA) have many health

benefits.

For more in-depth information, you can click on the website at the

bottom of this post, click on " product knowledge " , and in that page,

click on " journey to better nutrition " in the first group.

It has lots of good generic information on building health with

micro-algae.

You are on the right track, carry on and trust your body!
