Guest guest
There are, of course, several routes you can go. Prilosec is now available over-the-counter and is helpful with acid reflux and H- hernia. You can usually feel some results in a few days. Yoga - and good posture in general - helps with both conditions. Very often food gets stuck in the esophagus simply because we are not sitting up straight while eating, and it hangs up right below the rib cage, exactly where we are " slumping " . Chewing your food very well, eating small bitefulls. Also, you might find that pasta or rice gets stuck more easily than other foods -- so make a note to yourself what you're eating when it gets stuck. On a personal note, I've found that drinking at least 8 glasses of WATER a day has helped with acid reflux, constipation and chronic headaches. Didn't help overnight, took about a month -- but beats taking prilosec and excedrin all the time!! And getting up after a meal and taking a walk, with good posture, helps. You need to strengthen that whole abdominal wall -- yoga stretches up (a pose with the word " tree " or " mountain " in it) -- make sure it's gentle yoga and not the power brand. In addition to the 8 glasses of water, I stopped drinking coffee and soft drinks. Both will really irritate acid reflux. Dede
