Cortisone and Shin Splints

Cortisone, used briefly, can be a life-saver with certain

conditions. It's not meant for the long haul because of the

cumulative side effects. Because of people using it long-term it's

gotten a bad rap -- but with problems due to swelling (spinal or

brain trauma) or bad allergic reactions, first-response to lupus or

RA, it's a very good thing.

With my knee surgery (cartilage removal) I'd been using glucosamine

chrondroitin, and all that stuff. But nothing took the discomfort

away until I used the KNOX GELATIN!! Seriously! It's not expensive

and worth a try. I use it once a day in the morning. Pour a packet-

full into about 4 ounces of cold orange juice (or cold beverage of

your choice ... wouldn't do water, kinda icky) and drink it down

pretty fast. I follow then with another 4-6 ounces of water.

Within 24 hours I felt better! Once a day works for a lot of

people. Some need to do it twice a day.

Shin Splints: (that pain in the front of your shins), be sure to

take your time stretching before excersizing. Also check the kind of

shoes you're using -- maybe some good cross-trainers. You might find

jogging/running simply won't work for you.
