Guest guest
Oh, it could be any number of things. You might have switched to a soap or cleaning product that doesn't agree with your skin, or your skin has developed a sensitivity to an old, harsh product that its been exposed to for too long. You could be dehydrated, causing your skin to dry out, or perhaps you have developed ecema or something like that? You should start by examining whats changed in your life. New product? You might want to switch back to the old. New home? Find out what kind of allergens are around that might be bothering you. If nothings changed, here are some suggestions that help with my sensitive, itchy skin. Harsh laundry detergents have a terrible effect on me. Tide and Wisk are the biggest offenders. Try something more gentle, I use Arm and Hammer. All Allergen reducer is also good. You cant go wrong with an organic product, however. I am switching everything to organic before I have my baby, in the hopes that it will never develop the allergies I did. Organic soaps, lotions and beauty products is the only way to go with something you put directly on your skin. Never put something on your skin that wouldn't be safe to eat. Put a water filter on your shower. Not only did my eczema go away when I did this, but so did my dandruff and acne. Also, my hair looks great. Drink 8 glasses of water a day. If you live in a drier climate, make it 12. Try not to let household cleaners get on your skin. After cleaning the house, take a shower to rinse them off. Organic cleaners would irritate your skin less. Avoid itchy fabrics like wool. The last thing you want is to itch more. Ice itchy spots. It works. Also, oatmeal and baking soda baths are great. Good luck with your itchiness! I hope you feel better. martiunderwood <martiunderwood wrote: I have been itching now for over a year all over my body. Does anyone have any idea what it might be? Help this is > driving me nuts. > Hi Marti, itch can drive a person crazy! It can be worse than pain and harder to do something about. The first thing that comes to mind is that your LIVER is overburdened. What are you doing for the diabetes? Oral medication? Any drug puts a burden on the liver. You also mention perimenopause. The liver stores unexpressed anger. Our common language reflects that idea. We talk about people " being bilious " or " Having the gall to.. " This is a time of life when stored emotions force their way to the surface. In TCM hot flashes are called " liver fire flaring " . In other words: a woman is mad as hell and she is not taking it any more. My mother was a woman of great ambition who tried to fit her powerful personality into the fifties housewife ideal. She developed life threatening liver ailments at age 49. So the next question is: what have you done for your liver lately? Guest guest
Try to clean and support the liver first of all with dandelion root and leaf. Tinctures are good, so is tea or salads of fresh dandelion leaves, new leaves are best. The root can be dug up, washed and dried for tea also. Also take milk thistle seed to support the liver. Find all this at health food store or find a place online that sells herbal medicine. Mountain Rose Herbs have organic herbal supplements and sell online. Self Heal creme and Aloe Vera gel are good to apply topically. Herbs to help with diabetes are gymnema sylvestre, stevia ( a natural herbal sweetener), goats rue, nopal ( prickly pear cactus -- pads are prepared by singeing off the needles and sliced for boiling or frying) One supplement that is helpful is chromium picolinate. Spice that is helpful is cinnamon. All can be researched on the Internet. Baths with a cup or two of baking soda should help also, as well as a paste made of baking soda and water and applied topically. Of course keep a close check on sugar levels and be sure that your diet is not contributing to problems with the diabetes. Absolutely NO carbonated drinks, diet or otherwise. Hope this is useful info for you. Peace, Thyme ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.
