We love juice at my house, but we always buy frozen juice. I started

wondering the other day about making my own juice. I mentioned it to

my dad, and he basicly said that it wouldn't be any better because most

of the vitamins are in the peals. What exactly are the health benifits

of juicing your own fruits, and how can I convince him of this?

A mastication juicer will juice the whole fruit rather

than just the meat so you will get the complete

benefit of the fruit. However it takes a lot of

oranges to make a QT of juice.

Why not juice the peels then? I've been dying to get one of those Vita Mix

blenders, I saw a guy at costco put a whole cantaloupe in one of those and blend

it into a perfectly creamy smoothy and it tasted great. Rind and seeds and all!

It was crazy. But its like a thousand dollar blender, so it might be out of

your price range like its out of mine. Sadness.

I'm seriously considering using my student loans for one though...

We have a Vita Mix and it is a great nutritional tool. I have a nutritional

breakfast shake every morning using USANA 's flavored ( vannila, strawberry or

chocalate) vitamin powdered mix with soymilk, banana, apple, strawberry or what

ever other fruit I might want and add some honey and cinnamon. This is an awsome

meal replacement. Actually the Vita Mix is only about $500.00 or less.

Dear Colby

Frozen juice is probally one of the best ways to get your juice as they

freeze it as soon as it is juiced and that keeps the vitamins in-however i think

nothing beats doing it yourself-you can go to the markets every sat morn and

buy a box or half a box of your favorite fruits and late market day you can buy

a whole box of this or that for 5 dollars or less as they don't want to reload

and store it.

i might add that some fruits ( such as apples can be stored for 9 months or

less before going to the markets- ( un believable but true-) don't forget to

thoroughly wash all produce to rid it of chemicals-if you make your own you

will be sure it is washed and you can choose where it is grown-we must all be

aware that some foods are bought in from--- who knows where----- and could be

grown in polluted , toxic ground, with chemicals banned in other countries, also

check out the article the lady put on with a 40 min film clip with some REALLY

IMPORTANT NEWS about what the food controllers are allowing to go on with our

food-there were 2 really good articles recently on this site informing us of

the truth about our food and how it is being controlled in ways we do not want

it too so if you do juice your own start to investigae all about your food and

controll what you are being feed...Nothing beats a freshly made fruit

juice-yum! If you can't afford a juicer then

try the second hand stores, garage sales etcTry and get one with good solid

stainless steel fittings-i have had a couple and there are some cheap ones that

don't last too long as they have plactic cogs. Enjoy the juicing it can be

alot of fun!!!!!

500 bucks might as well be a thousand for me. Still, maybe after new glasses

there will be enough of my student loans left over...

Nah, I should pay off my computer if I have 500 dollars. Sadness.
