Guest guest
Hello everyone: I am hoping someone will have some ideas about what to do here. For a while now, I have been experiencing excess mucus (clear) in my throat and I can't seem to get rid of it. I am assuming it is an allergy to something because it does respond to anti-histamines. I manage it during the day by drinking water with apple cider vinegar in it. But at night, I have to take a anti-histamine or I cannot sleep because of it. When I wake up, I have to spit alot of this out that has accumulated through the night. Then I am fine until about 11am and the cycle starts all over. Just an FYI, I have very recently begun to clean up my diet and have cut way back on carbs and sugar, but haven't been doing that long enough to make a difference yet. I also use Flonase three times a week for chronic nasal congestion, but I've also gone for a year without using the flonase and the mucus in my throat was still a problem. Any advice will be helpful. I do have a doctors appointment for it soon, but I know and you know he will just want to give me more drugs which I really do not want to take. I most just want to make sure I don't have something more serious. Thanks. Elaine ______________________________\ ____ Bored stiff? Loosen up... Guest guest
I have a similar problem but I always thought it was due to smoking. Now that I have quit smoking I am hoping it will go away. I'm going to start trying gargling with warm salt water, thats supposed to help you cough that stuff up. Also, I started using a salt tooth paste, and that helped a little, and it helped my nasal congestion. You might try that. I don't know if whats been suggested to me for curing smokers phlem will help with you, but I don't think it will hurt. I'll let you know if I discover anything else. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Jessika, Thanks for the tips. I stopped eating sugar and cut back on other carbs a week ago, and this problem seems to have gone away. I haven't had the mucus for two days now, and that is the first time in months that it hasn't occurred. Last night I was able to skip the anti-histamine for the first time in probably three years. I am very cautiously optimistic. I didn't eat dairy other than a small amount of cream in my one cup of coffee that I have every day. I still do that. Congratulations on quitting smoking. That is not easy. Take care, Elaine --- Jessika Stone <remindersofthen wrote: > I have a similar problem but I always thought it was > due to smoking.
