Guest guest
First, colonoscopy: I had a colonoscopy about a year ago. All went well -- there was a small polyp they removed, no suspicious cells. Told me to come back in 5 years. That's typical for a non-suspicious polyp. Three years is typical for one of your Mom's type of polyp. These folks have been doing this for a long time, it's OK. Colon cancer, if caught early (and by doing colonoscopies when the docs tell you to) is the way towards early detection. Cancer is weird ... people who never smoke get lung cancer and die. In a perfect world we'd do everything perfect and avoid cancer. But, right now, we simply do not know how to do that. Eating well, getting fiber, lots of water -- and regular check-ups. Now, colon cleansing: I've done that too, although it's been years. Now that I've gotten my innards working right (drinking at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day, etc., etc.) I have no intentions of doing it again. I never had that " back-up " of matter -- nothing at all like photos I've seen. And it always took a long time for my system to get back to normal after one of those. In addition, there have been instances where people's colons were damaged. Do some more research on it before you do it. You have to go through a " cleasing diet " beforehand and all sorts of stuff. Frankly, I don't have the extra time in my life for it. Dede
