Guest guest
Hello Everyone... I am new to this site and I have a question about the AQUA CHI or any IONIC FOOT DETOX MACHINE that is supposed to help remove toxins from the body through the feet. I've heard a lot of great things about the ionic foot detox machine, but I have not been able to find much information about this alternative therapy device on the interent. I've visted a few company websites that make the ionic detox machines (for example, Q2 and AQUA CHI), but neither company has responded to my questions. I have several questions listed below. Any information would be very helpful to me and highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Some of the questions I have are: -Who was the " first " to invent the foot detox machine or what is the history of this machine? -What qualifications does one need to have, if they want to start a business to provide only foot detox treatments? -If a person were to start a business just giving these therapeutic treatments, where would one go for " formal " or " certified " training? -Are there any other groups or websites that help educate the public about this therapy? -Where can I find books or dvds specifically on ionic detoxification? Where can I go to research more info about this topic? Again, any information would be helpful and greatly appreaciated. Thank you kindly. Have a great week. Guest guest
Foot detox scam By Palmdoc A patient of mine recently brought a leaflet advertising “foot detoxifcation” asking me if it will help her illness. The brochure claims the device will “detoxify” your body by immersing your feet in it. The brochure is even so bold as to deny that they are “not linked with the recent media reports on foot spa services being investigated by the Ministry” and even has pictures of two alleged medical doctors in the brochure to claim “product genuity and reliability” They even have a website which denies their product is a scam. However, while one section of the website states that “As a company we do not claim that we can cure disease by soaking the feet in water”, another section of the website has the usual “testimonials” of people with various “disorders” like migraine (see pic), kulit gatal-gatal and even “severe gout” allegedly obtaining benefit from its use. People, a scam is a scam is a scam. Surely you cannot be so gullible to believe that by soaking your feet in this contraption your body will be “detoxified”? The public may be swayed by the water “miraculously” turning brown or black in colour. Someone has offered a simple explanation on How Foot Detox Works: The scam vendors advertised these devices as aqua chi machine, bio electrical biofeedback machine, foot spa, energy spa, super detox foot bath . They also advertise the scam as a service such as bio-detox, aqua detox, aqua spa, emerald detox, platinum detox. In essence, the foot bath contains a low voltage/amperage AC to DC transformer attached to ferrous electrodes. The process is basically electrolysis of water, a typical high school experiment, with a twist. The brown “toxins” you see is from the rust generated by the corrosion of the iron electrodes. The different variations in color can be accounted by varying amount of salt added to the water and variations in the compositions of the electrodes. It’s a simple chemical reaction folks. Don’t be gullible and fall for this BS! Addendum 9/11/5: (Link pointed out by Jimmy Chew) The Aqua Detox Scam in Devicewatch: further explanation of how it works: Many skeptics suspected that the color change produced by the Aqua Detox was caused by rust (oxidized iron), rather than toxins. Ben Goldacre, who writes the “bad science” column for Guardian Unlimited (an online British newspaper), investigated by using a car battery to send current through two metal nails that he placed into a bowl of salt water. The water turned brown and developed some sludge on top. Then he sent a colleague to get “detoxed” and collect before-and-after water samples. Laboratory testing showed that in both cases, the change of water color was due to greatly increased iron content [7]. Thus it appears that (a) the color change is due mainly to the precipitation of rust created by corrosion of the electrodes, and (b) the water would change color regardless of whether or not a foot was placed in it. reeinmaryland <reeamor wrote: Hello Everyone... Guest guest
There is a lot of controversy on detox foot baths. I would research other brands while you're looking. I haven't heard a thing on either one of these. There are devices out there that just do not work. I believe some do. Many make you think they are working because of the debris left behind and the changing in the water color. This is caused by the copper electrodes used. I do footbath detox using my SCIO device, point probes and Magnetic Detox clay in either a full bath or foot bath. Guest guest
Hi Ree, I have the Aqua Chi model and have seen very good results with it. My friend had one and out of all the different therapies she did to get rid of her fibromyalgia and CF after a severe accident that also left her with some brain damage she credited the footbath as helping the most. She literally spent five years trying every therapy and supplement she heard might work. I tried a footbath at her place and that evening I was breathing much clearer. I wasn't even aware that I had a breathing problem! I ordered one myself and after about 5 sessions, a patch of fungal skin on my leg that didn't respond to anything simply vanished. My Mom's fibromyalgia went away after about 25 treatments. We haven't had results with migraines though; liquid zeolite worked for that, indicating to me that the brain isn't cleansed with the footbath. The guy who repairs and I think manufactures the Aqua Chi in the US says they have done studies with this in China. Many illnesses caught in the early stages can be reversed. He will be the first to tell you that it is not a cure for anything. It's really the charging of the cells with energy that makes this so unique. When the cells function at a higher level, they will detoxify. Interestingly, someone at another group posted that she was at a health fair with her naturopath and they each did a session in the Aqua Chi. Her naturopath had WORMS! They came out in the bath water. I have never seen this and it's only the second time I've even heard of it happening. Her water on the other hand was full of sludge but not wormy. I've noticed that when people do a detox program, the water is dirtier. My friend noticed that when her clients all started taking Reishi mushroom that their water was like sludge so it will enhance upon any other detox program. People with fibro, arthritis, etc tend to have much slimier and larger bubbles indicating that the lymph is being cleansed and mucous is being removed. A healthy person doesn't have this. I recommend a minimum of three every other day if possible. Some people will not experience the full benefits the first time. My husband who used to be a lathe operator (making metal pieces for diamond bits). He'd come home from work and this metallic dust would be all over his clothes. 7 years later after not working there, he started with the footbaths. His first one there was practically nothing, just the typical orangey/browny stuff that will be formed with or without feet. The second one was pitch black, oily and reeked of the exact same smell that used to be on his clothes. Smokers and ex-smokers will have brown glue around their ankles. An ex-smoker will have this only once or twice. A current smoker will have this every time. As you can see the article that was posted about these being a scam is an outright lie. You will find articles in this style written online for just about every product that works. They are almost like carbon copies with just the names and products changed. When these people are corrected, they never remove what they've said and they never publish an apology. Thankfully at least the Quackbuster guy is now being " busted " himself. These people should just get a life instead of interfering in other peoples' lives. You don't need any special training for this. So long as the person isn't pregnant, doesn't have epilepsy or have electronic implants, they can do the footbaths. The company also says blood thinners and prescription meds to be on the safe side but I have had not adverse effects with anyone on prescriptions at all. I do a full wellness consultation for clients as part of the deal. Many practitioners just hook them up and leave them to relax for the half hour or 40 minutes. If you want to contact me off group, I can pass on some info regarding where I bought mine (and wouldn't again!) and where I'd recommend to get one now (I buy my parts from there). You can see my waiver, a few photos, etc. Sharon , " reeinmaryland " <reeamor wrote: > > Hello Everyone... > > I am new to this site and I have a question about the > AQUA CHI or any IONIC FOOT DETOX MACHINE that is supposed to help > remove toxins from the body through the feet. > > I've heard a lot of great things about the ionic foot detox machine, > but I have not been able to find much information about this > alternative therapy device on the interent. Guest guest
Scam, period. Complete nonsense. Analyzing the text on the wbsite you linked to: The use of controlled, low-frequency, direct electrical currents in the treatment of a variety of diseases and injuries are well-established and widely understood. Standard procedure, refer to some known and established knowledge, although " lowfrequency, direct " is nonsense; either it is direct or not. In terms of bio-electricity, the cells of a healthy human organism have a negative potential of between 70 and 90 millivolts. Within this range of potential, nutritional absorption and the discharge of toxic waste are efficient. More established knowledge, but the text is beginning to show bias towards the scam ( " toxic waste " ). They are trying to build up an air of credibility. The negative potential of a stressed or injured cell, on the other hand, can measure as little as 10-20 millivolts, and in this situation both nutritional absorption and the discharge of toxic wastes are poor. Actually, such a cell is more or less dead. Such a condition can occur suddenly, as a result of an accident, Accident, disease, or acute poisoning or can develop more slowly as a result, for example, of the progressive build-up of positive ions due to the effects of modern diets, stressed life-styles and the impact of a toxic environment. BZZZZT! First lie: Only serious trauma can disturb cells so profoundly. If the energy balance of the body is disturbed in this way it is necessary to detect and correct it. BZZZZZT! If the energy balance of the entire body (instead of just a number of cells) is so disturbed, you'll know: The person will be dead. Those who work within the bounds of preventive and complementary therapies will apply natural remedies such as proper nutrition, exercise and detoxification. Ain't gonna do much good to a dead person! The Aqua Detox Treatment The Aqua Detox treatment is normally given through the feet, by placing them in water in which the array will be activated. BZZZT! BZZZT! BZZZT! Now suddenly enter the ADT box. Here is the required leap of faith: They have told you a few established facts, now they want you to belive that their product has anything to do with that. Mind you, they do not say so directly, just hoping for you to make that assumption. The feet have an enormous number of pores - in the order of 2000 in each foot - and thus offer a point of application which is both efficient and convenient. Actually the number is probably more like 200.000, like any other area of skin of similar size. The apparatus can just as well be placed in a bath for the immersion of most of the body. As soon as the apparatus is switched on, gas bubbles form around the electrodes indicating that an electrolytic reaction is taking place. (This will happen without any part of the body being in contact with the water; liberated gases will clearly be seen). Yah, thats what happens whenever you pass a current through water. The gasses are oxygen and hydrogen. The water in the foot bath (or bath) becomes an extension of the water in the body, from which it is separated by nothing more substantial than a thin membrane - the skin. BZZZT! That membrane is (luckily for us) capable of separating our body liquids quite effeciently from the environment, even when in water. Otherwise taking a both would be mortally dangerous. However, the electrical current they pass through the water might give you a nasty chock Aqua Detox in Action Before Whilst immersing your feet in the AQUA DETOX apparatus something special happens. When the apparatus is turned on and the array (Illustrated right) is immersed in the water, the unit creates the electrolytic flow (a flow of electrons) Actually, it is a flow of salt ions. Why this is important will be clear soon. which imparts to the water a bio-energetic field which corresponds to that of the person using the apparatus. BZZZZZZZ! There is no known phenomenon called a bio-energetic field. This allows a gentle Bio-Energetic Resonance to travel through the body. The body now starts to re-balance. Bio-Energetic stimulation has a positive effect on the microcirculation of the body. BZZZZZ! BZZZZZT! And, of course, no such thing as " Bio-Energetic Resonance " . Note the versals, a sure kook sign. Obviously the two other statements are also completely unfounded. After The water is now filled with iron-cloride. This comes from the electrolytic interaction between the sodium cloride (salt) that was put int othe water and the iron in the electrodes. You can easily repeat this process: Dissolve a spoonful of salt in a glass of water. Connect the poles of a 9v battery to two large nails and place them in the water (they must not touch). First you see the " gas bubbles " , then after a while the water turns brown with iron-cloride. Iron-cloride is mildly poisonous and aggressive against many metals. If the microcirculation is good, the body is more likely to be healthy. When there is an imbalance, there is more likely to be a dysfunction. As the body re-balances its Bio-Energetic Field it plays an important part in regulating both supply of Oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and the proper excretion of waste products (toxins) out of the body. The body is therefore more likely to be healthy, allowing the body to restore its natural healing energy levels. BZZZZ! A rehash of medieval belief in health being connected to balance of body fluids. We have come a bit further since then. (well, some of us, that is ) The pictures below are of photographs taken using the Gas Discharge Visualisation (GDV) camera, also known as the Kirlian camera, which is able to identify the body's bio-energetic field. They show the disruption and un-balanced energy profile of a person before an AQUA Detox treatment and the improved profile following treatment. Those are evidently drawings. One woowooo belief trying to seek confirmation from another woowooo belief. Guest guest
This shows the power of the human mind and of suggestion. Yet the nail, salt water, nine volt battery test that I duplicated has sealed my deal. I am a natural skeptic as I was with ear candling and I have conclusive proof that it was not smoke and mirrors. So before I stick my money or feet in this unit I had to view all research available. Happy <happylittlemom wrote: Hmmm, I have heard only good things about these so far. Guest guest
David, As the saying goes, " Let the person who says it can't be done, get out of the way of the people who are doing it " . You have just called thousands of people a bunch of silly fools who can mentally rid themselves of fibromyalgia, chronic skin problems, crippling arthritis, diabetic neuropathy, hot flashes, etc just by sticking their feet into an ionic footbath and imagining their disease away. I have to wonder why their symptoms never went away when they did massage and were told they would get better. Why didn't they get better when they changed their diet? Ionic footbaths have worked in several cases of people I know personally when over a dozen other different therapies/diets/treatments didn't work. If they had been placeboed then their symptoms would have eventually come back. This was not the case. Like it or not, they work even on skeptical people. You really should try it before you knock it. Your post sounded like something the Quackwatch guy would write. Guest guest
Now,now...I know it probably infringes on your profits, but the mind is a powerful tool. If these people feel better when doing this, then good for them! It works! But to ignore physiology and the certainty of chemical reactives is plain buffoonery. Yes I can call thousands silly as I did when I saw some of those that share the snake oil mentality buying 'life beads'. As P.T. Barnum said, there is a sucker born every minute. And don't worry about your customers seeing this and not going to pour their money into your till, I doubt they read this. And while we are at it I have some tropical beachfront land in Alaska for sale... Guest guest
I looked at this foot detox with great interest when I first heard about it. But what I don't understand though, is that when feet are NOT placed into the foot bath, and the machine is turned on, it still turns the water different colors after a few minutes...........I have looked at different studies with pics/videos of the foot bath after 25 minutes and the water result is the same, regardless of whether feet were placed into the bath or not....why is that?? I am really curious about this topic. I would love a cure for migraines and that's what led me to this, but I just can't drop a whole lot of $$$ for something that, when investigated, had an end result like that.....If you can explain to me why the water result is the same, I would seriously try anything for help....thanks, Kate Sharon <energy_now wrote: David, As the saying goes, " Let the person who says it can't be done, get out of the way of the people who are doing it " . Guest guest
I too am one to test EVERYTHING before I invest $$$ into it. So do your research. Lots and lots of research. But to perhaps shed some light into why the nail, salt water and the nine volt battery routine provided a similar result right along with actually placing one's feet into the machine, or not placing them into the machine, let me offer this perspective: It is a matter of simple chemistry. Anytime you combine high amounts of chemical energy -- the battery -- salt water, consistant high levels of vibration and any sort of metal -- the nail, there is going to be a chemical reaction. Of some kind. And any chemical reaction typically gives off several waste products, one of them being heat, and another occasionally waste metals and minerals which can and usually do color things like clear water in odd shades of odd shades... Even without the addition of the battery, the salt water and high vibrational speeds produced will cause a great deal of breakdown of the ions in the metal of the nail. Think of what happens to rocks over time at the ocean, and you have a pretty good idea of how it works. The device which increases the vibration manyfold simply does the work of breaking minerals and such down a heck of a lot faster... Another thought -- Ever notice what happens to the metal of your cars every winter, especially for those folks who live in the Northeast where they use A LOT of salt on the roads each year? Salt is one of the largest contributors to metal breakdown, especially to things like aluminum, copper and steel -- which make up the lion's share of metals found both in cars and in the common 16-penny nail -- and the metal breakdown will create a residue in most conditions. Most folks call that residue rust. Now as to why the experiment worked without the feet -- our water -- if tap water is used, as it was the three times I had the opportunity to use one of those detox foot bath machines -- is heavily laden with trace minerals and other chemicals which really don't require much to react with something they come into contact with...especially if salt and high intensity vibration are introduced into the mix. Add a little heat, which is a byproduct of the vibrations the machine creates, add a little salt, which helps create conditions for both easier raising of temperatures and breaking down of minerals, and voila! You have chemical breakdown and bleeding off of trace minerals. And some funky colored water which is not terribly pleasant to look at and something I wouldn't advise placing one's body in. But, this is just a thought, a few ideas rooted in basic high school chemistry and my own experiences with the foot detox bath. If there is truly something out there that works as it is supposed to, then as an alternative health professional interested in such " toys, " please speak up and let me know. I'd love to check it out and if satisfied, purchase and use such a device. I would love a cure for migraines and that's what led me to this, but I just can't drop a whole lot of $$$ for something that, when investigated, had an end result like that.....If you can explain to me why the water result is the same, I would seriously try anything for help....thanks, Kate > > Sharon <energy_now wrote: David, > > As the saying goes, " Let the person who says it can't be done, get out > of the way of the people who are doing it " . > > You have just called thousands of people a bunch of silly fools who > can mentally rid themselves of fibromyalgia, chronic skin problems, > crippling arthritis, diabetic neuropathy, hot flashes, etc just by > sticking their feet into an ionic footbath and imagining their disease > away. Guest guest
Kate, The process of creating the negative ions also creates oxidation of the metal part of the ionizer. Combined with the minerals in the water you will see color change. The color is pretty much irrelevant. The odor will change quite a bit depending on the person and how many they do. There are a lot of unscrupulous people selling things and many are just plain unaware and will continue to promote false information. I've seen certain sites about my machine that are simply wrong. The manufacturer can't control every website. To get correct information go to the source which is the manufacturer. There are loads of very cheap machines out there that just don't do the job. One of my friends bought one from Ebay and is not having results with it. I'll email you what worked for my daughter's headaches when nothing (including the footbath) worked. It will give you a good indication of therapies that also didn't work since we tried lot of different things. The footbath works well for muscles and joints, less so for headaches. Guest guest
-Hi, I'm new to the group. I have also tried the ionic foot therapy and found good results. Im plan to buy one in the future. I'm on my sixth treatment and I'm estactic of the results. I also read about a comment from David. (too tech) He needs to try it first. Can I get info on the Aqua chi model if you please Sharon.
