The Devil

 

 

 

The Devil danced upon the table,

He shouted out with glee,

" You're a fool who's never stable

Your soul belongs to me " .

 

" There's nowhere you can hide from me,

I'm forever on your back,

Forget pointless praying,

For purity you lack! "

 

His voice was full of hatred,

Heat rose within his stare,

On and on he ranted,

Gaining strength from my despair.

 

I thought that he was winning,

As my heart began to break,

But whom does he think he's fooling,

My Soul's not his to take!

 

I stood and faced the Devil,

I refused to sit and hide,

" There's no way you are winning,

There's an Angel by my side! "

 

As the light shone on the table,

The Devil said bitterly.

" You can always tell that Angel,

You'd prefer to walk with me! "

 

I smiled then at the Devil,

Spoke in my softest voice,

" I don't wish to walk with evil,

Now that's my final choice! "

 

I think he got the message,

For now he's left my home,

And hopefully the knowledge,

That to him my Soul won't roam.
