Guest guest
Mackarel in the sea is very abundant, and yet very tasty, unlike sardine. It is very high in vitamin B12, and has Omega 3 oil, which is very important for the fight against cancer and heart disease. The abundance of nutrition and taste provided by mackarel can help in reducing poverty at a large scale, yet mackarel is out of reach of many impoverished areas. Guest guest
Mackerel is lovely in its smoked form, which is how I used to eat it in Holland. I was all excited when I saw some once in the freezer at the supermarket, dirt cheap. Brought a bunch home and proceeded to fry some up. GROSS! I later learned that it was meant as bait. And in the Maritimes people would prepare it by boiling it away from the house so the smell wouldn't overpower you too much. Learn something every day....
