Guest guest
The largest number of salmonella cases were reported in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Tennessee and Missouri. Salmonella infection is known each year to sicken about 40,000 people in the United States, according to the CDC. Salmonellosis, as the infection is known, kills about 600 people annually. Symptoms of salmonella can include diarrhea, fever, dehydration, abdominal pain and vomiting. The new outbreak began in August, but just two or fewer cases have been reported each day, CDC officials said. It was only in the past few days that investigators were able to hone in on a particular food, Lynch said. ConAgra is destroying all affected products the company still has, the FDA said. The company will cease production until the exact cause of contamination can be identified and eliminated. Meanwhile, ConAgra advised consumers to destroy any Peter Pan and Great Value brand peanut butter beginning with product code 2111. The FDA sent investigators to ConAgra's processing plant in Sylvester where the products were made to review records, collect product samples and conduct tests for salmonella. ---PRODUCT CODE BEGINNING WITH 2111 Associated Press writer Andrew Bridges in Washington contributed to this
Guest guest
Thank you for the information. i think my 8 year old daughter was sicken by this. We have the peanut butter with the 2111 on the lid. A day or two after she ate it, she started with a 104 fever and violently vomiting. I took her the Docs and they said it was the flu. I really believe she had foosd poisioning. My question is why didn;t they check for it. At the time we did not know anything about it. Why didn't the doctor check her for this, Why do they all assume it is the flu all the time. Thanks cecile <RSchl44964 wrote: The largest number of salmonella cases were reported in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Tennessee and Missouri. Guest guest
my son is 4 years old and has never been sick a day of his life. he had his favorite, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and also got sick. he had a fever, he was breathing weird in his sleep, he was sweating and vomiting. i took him to the emergency room and they told me it was just the flu too. when all of this " outbreak talk " was out, i took a look at the peanut butter in my pantry and sure enough it was a 21111 code. how can we be sure to trust the " con agra " in the future? is anyone on here using organic peanut butter? , Debra Martin <mycodismodis wrote: > > Thank you for the information. i think my 8 year old daughter was sicken by this. Guest guest
I use organic peanut butter if and when I use it. Me nor my son eat much peanut butter but I do buy organic. I buy the Smuckers Natural for our dogs. I've resorted to shopping at an organic store and paying more because I do NOT trust the food industry these days--this is exactly why.
