Guest guest
We use One A Day Vitamins and Minerals. We were so glad to hear that they actually have in them what they advertise on their bottles. It was on 60 minutes or 20/20. Guest guest
Everyone is different and so are supplements. IMO, quality of product and how it is produced are of major importance. However: not everyone will do well on the exact same supplement. So its taking which ever one works best for you...not the guy next door or even the guy that is trying to sell it to you. Muscle test to see if it is the correct one for you. Guest guest
Personally I use Melaleuca products and have not had the flu and only tiny colds for over three years now. Before I used to get at least one major flu and many colds through out the winter months. Every Dec. and Jan. I would lose my voice. I have used myself as a ginnie pig for years...since my early 20's so that's 20 years into the test and FINALLY found a good one. Some vitamins may have what they say in them but...find out the absorption values as well. These vitamins have up to 96 % and that in my books is fanatastic! Good luck with your search. Every vitamin works different (I believe) for each individual. Keep trying. Always ~ Kim
Guest guest
My vote goes to whole foods. Sure, vitamins make a difference. I used to take them diligently. But the B complex always stopped working after a few weeks, and I'd have to take at least a week off before I could start them again. I used to dread the " off weeks " . Once I switched to whole food in supplement form it never stopped working and just kept getting better. Isolates compare to whole food supplements the way your 3 number fertilizer compares to compost. I prefer the wisdom of Nature for both my organic garden and my body. When you take whole foods you get the nutrients that science has discovered so far and the ones they will get all excited about tomorrow. There are many good products out there. Do some Googling, see what appeals to you. You can test this by putting a pill in warm water and seeing if it dissolves or just sits there. Not sure how true the story is of a plumber who found a whole bunch of undigested pills in a septic system, found out they were the vitamins that had passed from one end to the other without getting absorbed! Liquids are more readily absorbed, also tend to be a bit pricier per dose- but you get what you pay for. I use (and sell, disclaimer!) Oxyfresh products. We have a Foundation Formula that is a packet of pills, includes basic multivit/mineral, digestive enzymes, antioxidant complex, flaxseed oil, and Vit E oil. The enzymes assist with the absorption of these, and you can't possibly get all that nutrition into one pill. We also have liquid nutrition products, which include a variety of vitamins/minerals. The best way to get vits/minerals is through food, but even the food we're getting in the big grocery stores these days has less nutritional value than it did 50 years ago. One option that I don't take but think is a good alternative to my products is Juice Plus. They've taken real food and distilled it into supplement form. Seems to be a good company with some good products- I just prefer Oxy, especially their liquid nutritionals. Guest guest
You're correct Susan. I have a video presentation showing how the body absorbs and digests supplements. My daughter took the same idea and created a science fair project showing that...similar to your suggestion. Most supplements in tablet form do not digest quick enough, so you get around 30-40% absorption, where as liquid and powder forms absorption is 70% or higher. BTW she took 1st place in the science fair. Guest guest
It also takes stomach acid for the vitamins to dissolve, so water alone might not be an accurate test. Maybe add some vinegar to the glass of water? Personally, I use NOW brand " Special One " vitamins. I did a lot or research, like you are doing now, and liked this one the best. From what I found, NOW and Solaray are about the best brands. I can tell a big difference from others that I've used. Good luck. Guest guest
If you put a slice of apple in the water the enzymes will act similarly as an environment in the stomache. I personally have found Pharmanex's supplements highly effective for me and the patients. They are the only company guaranteeing saturation levels at the tissue levels where we truly feed. Guest guest
all these tests are tests of substances and not wether your body absorbed them. its another issue, the best logical way is to look for third party evidence from the brand , substantiating their claims. also, there is a website called www.supplementwatch.com who already does the homework from you. where they have a group of scientists and doctors who investigate and critique different brands for you and give you an unbiased opinion. because everybody here who is selling something will always tell you based on their own biases, i have some articles that talk about quality of supplements and what stuff to avoid, and a research from ucla , email me if you are interested at busybuddy168 sandy , " John " <jheeckt wrote: > > > > It also takes stomach acid for the vitamins to dissolve, so water > alone might not be an accurate test. Guest guest
Dear Jedidiah, So is that a good thing to do with Apple then? Put a slice in water and then drink the water? Do you have to leave it in there for a certain amount of time? With thanks Diana Moore http://www.bowentherapy.homestead.com , " healthymasculine_2000 " <healthymasculine_2000 wrote: > > If you put a slice of apple in the water the enzymes will act similarly > as an environment in the stomache.
