Guest guest
Anyone know what the best types of oils are to apply on the face and scalp? Especially for eczema. How well will Vitamin E or Evening Primose Oils work?
Guest guest
My partner uses olive oil in place of conditioner for his hair and scalp. Rubs a small amount into his hair and then shampoos out. He has soft and silky hair without an itchy scalp. I use the olive oil on my skin before I get out of the shower. I don't have the itchy dry skin. Coconut oil or cocoa butter are also good for the skin and can be used on the face as well. Guest guest
Let's see...some of the safest I can think of would be Lavender and any of the Chamomiles. Lavender in particular is good for all sorts of skin ailments. It's good for a lot of other things too, but is well known as a reducer of inflammation of the skin. Perhaps another worth trying would be Clary Sage. It is reputed as a woman's herb, but as a massage therapist, I have had really good success with it for skin dryness and other issues. Vitamin E and Evening Primrose both will work well, provided you are consistant with application. Another to consider might be a " low dose " combination of tea tree and EVOO -- (for you fans of the Food Network) otherwise known as Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The olive oil is good for the skin in general, and there are mild antiseptic properties in the Tea Tree oil. I've heard that lemon oil is good for the scalp, as is grapefruit oil. Just make sure that you aren't planning on spending ANY time in the sun or at a tanning bed for about two to three hours (and depending on your skin type, maybe even longer)after using them. ALL citrus oils are HIGHLY photosensitizing, which is a fancy way of saying that they can really cause your skin to be REALLY sensitive to sunlight of any kind. You tend to burn REALLY easily when using these on the skin. So go carefully. Avacado oil and if you are not nut sensitive, almond oil. Sesame oil is a good one too, and is recommended by a lot of Vedic medical folk as an everyday massage oil for the whole body. If I come up with anything else while I am doing some reading over the next couple of days, I'll pop back in and mention it. I hope that this info will at least give you a good place to start. Best wishes. Dawn , " modeaussie " <koolaussies wrote: > > > Anyone know what the best types of oils are to apply on the face and > scalp?
