Guest guest
My brother had a colon exam about a month ago and during the exam some stomach acid got into his lungs. HE DID NOT EAT ANYTHING BEFORE THE EXAM! He got what is known as ARDS. First the left lung and then it got into the right lung. He went in the ICU on Dec 25 ,2006 and died Jan 29 2007. I have a hard time writing this but I hope to try and save someone the same fate. The DR.s say this just happens! WHAT! No one said anything to us about this until my Brother got it . They induced a coma and put a tube down his throat then after 4 weeks did a trach because the tube can't stay longer than that. If there was a tube in his throat from the onset this might not have happened. This was the third time he has had the same exam and I have had several because our Mother and Grand mother had colon cancer. What kind of jerks are these people ? We should be warned and offered another treatment where you don't have to be put under. My Brother never woke up and died when the tube was taken out(he never said good by or saw the new year) .The creeps kept taking samples of his lungs even when he was dead and made sure it was on the bill! I really miss that guy. All he was trying to do was protect his health, I guess he should have stayed home for the Holidays. I LOVE YOU WILL. Don't pick lemons. See all the new 2007 cars at Autos. Guest guest
Hi Debra, I'm so sorry to hear your traggic news. It's soooo sad these things have to happen and so unexpected. We never know from one second to the next what life has in store for us. I will not get too much into this, but my brother felt ill one afternoon so he went to the ER to get checked. He was told that he was a diabetic. He had no clue at all why he was feeling so terribly sick. During the exam, (being there about an hour), his heart stopped...conjestive heart failure. Who would have known a visit to the hospital er for a check up to never come out again alive. I don't get it. When my mom called me she said he was going to be ok and a couple hours later she drives over to my place with my brother-in-law to tell me my brother Mark was gone...we called him Cookie. He was only 39 years old, married but no children. I totally freaked out. He was my baby brother. I love and miss him very much. My heart goes out to you, Debra. Guest guest
I just had a colonoscopy and they did an endoscopy at the same time...this gave me chills to read it, because it seems that the acid reflux has gotten worse since the test...even though I am taking the meds they gave me for it. I am going to check the archives here again and see if there is a listing for something natural that I can use to control the reflux..it is so disgusting..beyond words. Thank you for sharing with us, what had to be very hard for you to talk about, since it is still so new for you...you may have possibly saved someone else's life by sharing. Guest guest
Dear Debra, I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Medical procedures gone awry probably happen way too often, but death from a procedure which is highly recommended by health professionals is something I really cannot imagine. I recently had my 3rd colonoscopy, one every 5 years, as colon cancer runs in my family. A good friend of mine later told me that during his colonoscopy the doctor accidentally cut into a major artery while removing a polyp, but this was not discovered until about 6+ hours later. My friend was released and a few hours later he began having severe dirrhea (at home) which was all blood. Even calling his doctor to report this problem was to no avail as he never could get past the reception desk. Finally he drove himself to an emergency room of a major hospital, all the while he is having regular explosions of dirrhea which is all blood, and collapsed into unconsciousness while waiting in the emergency room. He was later told that he very nearly died, and that the *accidental* cutting into the major artery was just a freak thing that could not have been prevented. Even stranger, the hospital called in the doctor who cut the artery in the first place to go in and do the stitching. Again, I'm very sorry for your loss. ron
