Good Morning!

This week I will be discussing topics in regards to coping with life,

alternative ways of thinking for better health and the power of our

belief systems in healing!

The Life Coach Series: The Metaphysics of Happiness

" Traditionally, metaphysics refers to the branch of philosophy that

attempts to understand the fundamental nature of all reality, whether

visible or invisible. It seeks a description so basic, so essentially

simple, so all-inclusive that it applies to everything, whether

divine or human or anything else. It attempts to tell what anything

must be like in order to be at all. The term metaphysics originally

referred to the writings of Aristotle that came after his writings on

physics, in the arrangement made by Andronicus of Rhodes about three

centuries after Aristotle's death " .

The Metaphysics of Happiness has everything to do with our belief

system. Belief is one of our most powerful assets. With the ability

to believe, you can accomplish nearly anything! The more you believe

in yourself, the more you will definitely accomplish. Happiness comes

to those who BELIEVE THEY ARE HAPPY! It's just as simple as that.

When we face situations that are near physical or mental

impossibilities, then it is our belief system, or belief in

ourselves, that determines IF it is possible.

Our body and minds are stronger and more complexed than most people

realize. We are capable of much more. People place too many limits on

what they can do. Learning to believe in yourself and your abilities

is a hard job that never ends. Although, it does get easier with

time. You need to start pushing yourself. Attempting things that are

just outside your ability. I know, your saying to yourself, " I push

myself, " or " I do my best, " but I am still unhappy, then you are

still stuck in the old belief pattern. You have to believe you can go

past your limits. By putting in the time and effort you WILL succeed.

You are happy. As you succeed, your confidence will grow. One of the

best things about expanding your limits, is that things that used to

be impossible, out of reach or due to unhappiness, can now be apart

of your everyday life! By building the belief in your ability, you

can accomplish anything in life.

Happiness and the Sexes

Research has found that different factors were important for the

different sexes.

* Four in ten men said sex made them happy, and three in ten said a

victory by a favourite sports team.

* For seven in ten women happiness was related to being with family,

and one in four said losing weight.

* Romance featured higher for men than women. So did a pay rise and a

hobby they enjoyed.

* Women were more likely to cite sunny weather.

Methods to Live By

* Our Belief System is one of the major factors that can get us

through situations or can cause our life to crumble around us! How

we " program " ourselves to see our real happiness, shows us just how

happy we are.

* Our self-confidence and self-love are often the key to opening and

strengthening this portion of our thoughts which in turn emanates

from ourselves, which in turn allows happiness to find us!

* Energy follows thought. Program thought to be positive and your

energy will reflect it!

* Really appreciating what we DO have as opposed to what we would

like to have, sometimes makes a signifcant difference. This is always

an important element in a happy person that is often neglected.

*Happiness is a long lasting enduring enjoyment of life, it is being

in love with living. Happiness is not merely a life lived by

accumulating moments of pleasure. Happiness is your reward for

achieving a good character and personally rational values in life.

Some important values are a productive career, romance, friendship

and hobbies.

*Achieving these values requires rationality and takes effort and

skill. Two types of skills you can use are thinking skills and

valuing skills. Once you learn to have confidence in your own mind

and once you discover the virtues that make it possible for you to

achieve your values and that make your life worth living, then you

will experience the result - an earned pride and a genuine self-

esteem. And of course happiness.

A Formula for Happiness

Life coach Pete Cohen, who co-wrote this study on happiness,

developed this equation based on research done in Britian. Apparently

the formula was worked out by psychologists after interviews with

more than 1,000 subjects. He has come up with an interesting formula:

Happiness = P + (5xE) + (3xH)

Just to explain, P stands for Personal Characteristics, including

outlook on life, adaptability and resilience.

E stands for Existence and relates to health, financial stability and

friendships.

And H represents Higher Order needs, and covers self-esteem,

expectations, ambitions and sense of humour.

Rating

Each person who completes the questions ends up with a rating out of

100. The higher the score, the more happy they are.

" Most people probably don't know what happiness is, they think

happiness is perhaps having lots of money or a big car, or a big

house.

" But people who have all these things are not necessarily happier

than people who just enjoy their life. "

Are You Happy?

Ask Yourself These Questions. How to work out the answer:

The questions should be answered on a scale of one to ten, where one

is " not at all " and ten is " to a large extent "

Add the scores for question #1 (one) and #2 (two) together to find

your P value. The score for question #3 (three) is the value for E,

and question #4 (four) for H

1. Are you outgoing, energetic, flexible and open to change?

2. Do you have a positive outlook, bounce back quickly from setbacks

and feel that you are in control of your life?

3. Are your basic life needs met, in relation to personal health,

finance, safety, freedom of choice and sense of community?

4. Can you call on the support of people close to you, immerse

yourself in what you are doing, meet your expectations and engage in

activities that give you a sense of purpose?

Other Tools for Creating Happiness

*Meditation: is a time-honored technique that can take you into

infinite dimensions of consciousness. It is a simple effort that

becomes effortless as we do it more and more. One major principle to

meditation is in the ability to completely quiet your mind.

Meditation helps us live a healthier, less stressful life. The

physical and psychological benefits are wonderful . The practice of

meditation helps us temporarily let the physical world go so that we

can begin to see ourselves as we truly are -– spiritually enlightened

beings.

*Sound and Music: You may utilize the vibrational power of sound or

music during your healing session. Music is a magical medium and a

very powerful tool. Music can delight all the senses and inspire

every fiber of our being. Music has the power to soothe and relax,

bring us comfort and embracing joy! Music subtly bypasses the

intellectual stimulus in the brain and moves directly to our

subconscious. There is music for every mood and for every occasion.

Music can be characterized by how it heals. The way music fires the

neurons in the brain to the tempo it is played, helps bring into play

the characteristics that bring the biggest healing benefits to an

individual. Although the power, range and effectiveness of music as a

healing tool has many variables, there are certain traits that are

Universal.

*Aromatherapy: is the practice of using naturally distilled essences

of plants to promote the health and well-being of your body, mind,

and emotions. These essence, called essential oils, can restore

balance and harmony to your body and to your life. Essential oils of

plant, fruit, and flower essences are created to center and enhance

the body and mind in order to help us in preventative measures, as

well as, an effective cure for many illnesses. Scents can induce an

amazing power as they influence our moods. Our sense of smell is the

most direct path to our emotions. This is the principle behind the

ancient art of aromatherapy.

*Exercise is what your body instinctively wants to do especially

under stress: fight or flight, and it works. It burns off some of the

stress chemicals which tension produces. Therefore, a tired muscle is

a relaxed muscle. Regular exercise builds stamina that can help

anyone battle stress. But even something as casual as a walk around

the block can help you burn off some of the tension that you carrying

around.

* Hydrotherapy is the use of water in any form. The mysterious and

amazing healing power of water has been utilized for centuries. Water

cleanses, refreshes and restores all life. We are always drawn to

water. Be it a soothing fountain or majestic waterfall. Water is a

carrier. It flows. It moves along the line of least resistance to

find its way to the ocean where comes and goes in the ebb and flow of

tides and waves. The appeal is inexplicable! We crave water, maybe

because our bodies are made up of a large percent of it. Maybe

because we instinctively know how it can heal us.
