Guest guest
I would like to practice yoga at home and have been searching for a good beginner DVD. I have fibromylagia, arthritis, and a history of back/neck pain, so I would need a very gentle approach. A colleague recommended Rodney Yee's beginner videos, but they didn't get stellar reviews on Amazon. I think there may be other options. Please help! Guest guest
Melissa, I have Rodney Yee's beginner and it's ok...but it does have positions that can be a challenge and very painful if done wrong. Have you tried Pilates? I love that one. I had a herniated disk 14 years ago and 2 neck fractures since, I can do this one without the pain I would get from Yoga. Yoga is excellent for arthritis just be very cautious and don't force yourself to do positions that are extremely difficult or uncomfortable, as injury can occur. Especially with prior neck and back injuries. Swimming or water aerobics is excellent for arthritis and cardio. I would strongly suggest you also implement into your health improvements Quantum Biofeedback. I work with clients who have fibromyalgia and arthritis with excellent improvement and results. Also pain management without drugs and help for spinal injuries. Guest guest
Start with Yogic breathing (Pranayam) and then do Asanas (yoga poses). I tried a few VHS tapes and DVDs. The one that I liked the most is from Baba Ramdev. For $19 you can buy two VCD from SiliconIndia.com. Ramdev has millions of followers in India. Every morning millions practice yoga following the televised lessons. People who have practiced his yoga speak very highly about the benefits they achieved. Guest guest
Hi Jenny, I haven¹t tried Pilates, but I think that would be difficult to do on my own without private instruction. I am aware that yoga can be strenuous and cause injuries if done incorrectly. That¹s why I¹m looking for a beginner level practice. Guest guest
I always work with dvds from http://www.yogazone.com/. I find that they move at just the right speed, and they show you alterations of the poses so that you can work up to them if you need to. " We are each but one turd in the septic system of life. If I had a video, I would keep postponing it till a bit later and before you know it the day is done.
