The show, titled " Prescription for Murder? " will explore whether the antidepressant Zoloft led Pittman to kill his grandparents, Joe and Joy Pittman of Chester County, S.C., while they slept in November 2001. Pittman was convicted of two counts of murder in February and is serving a 30-year prison sentence. Pittman was 12 at the time of the killings. A CBS spokesperson said the show, which will air at 10 p.m/9:00 Central time - will feature an on-camera interview with Pittman, who discussed the case while he was out on bond during his 2 1/2 week trial. During the interview, Pittman says the drug triggered voices in his head, and the killings were like watching a movie. " I was just laying there trying to go to sleep, and it was just like these voices in my head, just echoing in my head, getting louder and louder and faster, " Pittman told CBS correspondent Erin Moriarty. " And what were these voices saying? " Moriarty asked. " Kill. " Prosecutors and jurors said they believed Pittman was a troubled youth who was angry about being disciplined for a fight on the school bus, and knew what he was doing when he killed the Pittmans. They noted that Pittman fled after the killings and initially lied to police. He later told police his grandparents deserved to die, and jailers saw him bragging to other inmates about the killings after his arrest. The Pittman case has gained national attention because it was believed to be the only time the Zoloft defense was used in the case of a child charged with murder. The case also came as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ordered stricter warnings on antidepressants because of concerns the drug triggers suicide in children and adolescents. Want to Watch?
