Guest guest
Here is a list of senators on the health and human services committees. What we have been advised to do the following: Contact Jane Nelson's office and tate you do NOT want SB bills 989 and 1209 to be heard before the committee. Call all of the senators on this committee - http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/cgi- bin/db2www/tlo/committees/cmtembrs.d2w/report? LEG=79 & SESS=R & CMTECODE=C610 & CHAMBER=S & CTYPE=Senate even though they are not your local senators, they need to know anyway. Call the reps Davis and Zedler on HB 44 and HB 191 – state your opinion. Write up why you oppose this bill, violates your constitutional rights to choose whom you want for health care, etc. How you have been helped by Naturopathic medicine, homeopathy and herbalists. If you agree – state your opinion the education of the Registered Dieticians and Nutritional Consultants is insufficient to give specialized recommendations and sell you homeopathic and herbal supplements. One of the provisions, non RD's and non CCN's can give advice for FREE but criminal penalties are imposed on those who SELL their advice, supplements. State how this would greatly limit your buying specialized lymphatic support remedies from your lympathic therapist,. W'nt allow you to buy colon cleansing herbs from your colon therapist, etc. And specialized support personnel would not be able to sell you personalized and or custom remedies. FAX everybody on the committee. Fax to your local reps and senators Get the word out to family and friends and enlist their assistance. I know this takes time but is very much appreciated by the community as a whole. The more people we have calling and faxing the better our chances are of defeating all of these bills. In 1999 a bill of this nature was passed despite enormous opposition. Gov Bush vetoed it at the time saying it would hurt too many people. Please bear in mind the legislators writing these bills are supported by powerful business interests. This is not legislation to protect our consumer health. Rather it is legislation intended to allow certain groups a monopoly on sales of nutrition consulting and supplements. The chief lobbyist for these organizations told one of my colleagues his mission was to put ALL non RD's and non CCN's out of business !! ubject: Fwd: Texas Health Freedom Update - Time to Turn Up the Heat! I received the following email from a colleague. I am aware that the practice of naturopathy is not legal in Florida. This is a very sad situation for residents of Florida. There can be little health freedom without the freedom to choose how you would like to maintain your own health! If you live in Texas, there is a request below to help by making your opinion known re SP 989 and 1209 in Austin. If you agree that this is a problem, perhaps you can help. Some of you may not be aware that in Florida last month, a naturopath was hand cuffed and charged. Here is another outrage: Canada needs support for their DSHEA type of bill C-420. Also this is an excerpt from a recent email from Canada: " Did you know that on March 10th, 2005 in the Victoria area an owner and staff of a health food store was hand cuffed and charged with criminal offences for selling folic acid and glandulars.
