Your letters, faxes and phone calls are needed NOW to

oppose AB 291 by

Assembly Member Paul Koretz. This bill would require

that every

pregnant

woman in California be screened for depression and

that every new

mother be

screened for " post-partum mood disorders. " This type

of legislation is

part

of the implementation of the President's New Freedom

Commission on

Mental

Health recommendations to get every man, woman, and

child in the United

States screened for invented psychiatric disorders,

with a large

percentage

of them put onto dangerous psychiatric drugs.

 

The hearing is 12 April before the Assembly Health

Committee. So, your

letters and faxes must arrive in Sacramento by Monday,

11 April to be

effective.

 

Address the letter " Dear Assembly Member " or " Dear

Legislator. " Please

write in your own words-the topics below are ideas for

you to use as a

basis

for your letter or call. Make it short. Send your

faxes during

business

hours so they don't get thrown in the trash in the

morning. Please

Suggested topics:

1) This bill, in the guise of helping, is a give-away

to the

psychiatric

industry and big drug companies which stand to make

millions of more

dollars

from the State's medical programs and private health

plans.

2) Psychiatric " diagnoses " are entirely subjective,

and have no

dependable

physiological markers.

3) Psychiatric " treatment " can cause suicide,

homicide, permanent brain

and

nervous system damage, psychosis, diabetes and other

medical problems.

4) What about the damage to the unborn child from

these toxic drugs?

5) Once a person is " diagnosed " with some psychiatric

disorder, they

become

a cash cow for the psychiatric industry and the drug

companies.
