Please see below and thanks for your help ! Please call ASAP to

prevent this from going into the House.

All the best -

Please take 2 minutes to help with this. If this bill is passed you

would be severely limited to only seeing registered dieticians for

your nutritional purposes and supplement recommendations. Many

people such as homeopaths, Naturopaths, herbalists, etc would NOT be

able to provide any advice any more if these bills are passed - thank

you very much. Please call (512-463-0112) ASAP - Phyllis Shaw

Colleagues and Friends,

The two Senate Bills, 989 and 1209, are currently

before the

Senate Health and Human Services Committee. They both

seek to mandate

licensure of nutritional counseling in the state of

Texas and outlaw any

naturopath or unlicensed nutritional counselor from

offering advice to any

citizen for compensation. They are supported by

powerful special

interests.

At the advice of a leading national health

freedom advocate, we

are attempting to convince the Chairman of the Senate

Health and Human

Services Committee, Sen. Jane Nelson, to not bring

these bills to a

hearing. The best way to do that is to call her

number (512-463-0112) and

express your and your family's opposition to these

deeply flawed bills.

This tactic apparently worked when we used it with the

House Public

Health Committee Chair, it can work again. When you

contact her office,

ask for the staffer who handles health issues.

Suggested wording is as

follows:

" Hello, my name is ________ . I am calling to

express my and my

family's oppositon to Senate Bills 989 and 1209. I

believe they are bad

deal for health freedom for all Texans. Please ask

Senator Nelson to

NOT allow these bills to be heard before the

committee, and to ask her

fellow committee members to not support either bill. "

Expect to be

asked for your contact information (i.e., address or

phone number).

PLEASE help us defeat these bills! Nothing less

than our

collective right to choose who we see for health

advice is at stake. Thanks

for your support.

Peter M. McCarthy, N.D.
