WHAT THIS HAS TO DO WITH YOUR ACCESS TO DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS

 

CAFTA (Central American Free Trade Agreement) threatens to expand NAFTA

to Central America as a prelude to imposing the FTAA (Free Trade Area

of the Americas) on our hemisphere, a vehicle by which all the laws

would be harmonized (made the same) between the Arctic Circle and Tierra

Del Fuego.

 

The FTAA would be a vehicle similar to the European Common Market which

spawned the subsequent creation of the EU Dictatorship which is

presently attempting to destroy consumer access to dietary supplements

all

over Europe (and by virtue of the influence the EU wields at Codex) THE

WORLD.

 

WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT?

 

I was on the US Codex Delegation in '96 and '98 prior to being kicked

off as a whistleblower prior to the Codex meeting in Berlin in 2000, and

I have no illusions regarding what is coming at the 28th General

Session of Codex between July 4-9th in Rome.

 

We don't have any leverage over the unelected bureaucrats at Codex who

(like WTO delegates) don't represent the PEOPLE of any of the countries

they come from, they represent the MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS that are

CONTROLLING their countries FDA.

 

The only country fully in our corner at Codex is South Africa. Sure,

maybe some other African countries such as Tanzania might join them in

opposition to ratification of the Codex vitamin standard in Rome in July,

but I'm not counting on it, and the way these Codex meetings are run,

the Chair can define " consensus " as having been reached any way they

want- the meetings are rigged heavily against us.

 

Congress whitewashed the oversight hearing on this issue that I pushed

for for 5 years on March 20, 2001.

 

SO. WHAT _CAN_ WE DO? WHAT _IS_ OUR POLITICAL REALITY?

 

I'm not sugar coating any of this folks, because we all need to know

where we stand in order to fight back effectively in those venues where

we still exercise SOME CONTROL.

 

In the US, that would be in our state legislatures and with Congress.

 

In Canada, that would be in your provencial governments and with

Parliament.

 

The FIRST STEP is education. Many people aren't even FAMILIAR with

terms like CAFTA and FTAA. Please go to http://www.stoptheftaa.org and

as a prelude to a bureaucratic nightmare similar to the one they're

having in Europe via the EU.

 

I have been to England and rubbed elbows with pissed off vitamin

consumers who are incensed that the ruling Labor Party has TOTALLY

IGNORED

the more than ONE MILLION vitamin consumers who signed petitions against

harmonizing English vitamin law to the draconian EU Food Supplement

Directive.

 

Do we want to be plunged down the SAME slippery slope England and the

rest of Europe have been via the EU?

 

We don't HAVE to be, its our CHOICE.

Senators that you totally oppose CAFTA and the FTAA, and your main

concern

is Codex- you don't want US vitamin laws harmonized to a mindlessly

restrictive international standard, and you don't want our country to be

destroyed by this bureaucratic monstrosity the way England is being

destroyed as its being subsumed into the EU.

rubber bullets and threw teargas cannisters back at the cops. I helped

block intersections so that WTO delegates could not get to where they

were

trying to go. When they tried breaking through our lines, we told them

to walk back to the airport and fly back to whatever country they came

from because they didn't represent the PEOPLE of ANY country.

 

The price of FREEDOM is eternal vigilance.

 

Don't allow yourself to feel overwhelmed by all of this. Accept it as

our political reality and ask yourself what you CAN do. You CAN pick up

your phone and make some phone calls, and you CAN FORWARD THIS WIDELY.

So please just DO IT. Think of FUTURE GENERATIONS. THINK of yourself

and your family.
