Guest guest
Thanks for the info'. Actually Niacin has been used in high dose by Abram Hoffer, M.D., Ph.D., to treat schizophrenia. It has not been tried in bipolar. The only type of depression in which to my mind it can work is the tryptophan--serotonin deficiency type. If there is not enough B3 (niacin) in the body, the tryptophan will convert into B3 rather than going ahead to convert into serotonin etc.. Regards. Ratan. -------------- There was some old medical research with Niacin and treatment of various mental disorders. They used high doses. What I know is that for some folks Niacin does help control the mood components of what might be either bipolar disorder or other. There is something calming about the afterflush...lol. Anecdotally, about the time I began using niacin (500mg tid) for cholesteral problems, I also stopped having the problems with severe depression that had cropped on and off for years... Guest guest
Dear Dr. Ratan Singh, I have had an experience with a family member, reguarding OCD. Very long story shortened- help was gotten by removing mercury amalgams from teeth, being helped by a very good Homeopathic Doctor. A psychiatrist had given this person two wrong psychotropic drugs back to back and caused a major medical crisis. I had worked in two psychiatriac hospitals in earlier days, and knew choices were not many. Trying Homeopathic help was the cause of a stunning recovery. Mercury amalgams were removed from the teeth. During treatment one antidote s all of the drugs formally used in the body, and chealate out the heavy metals along the way with other things, eggs, apple pectin, cilantro tincture, etc. I hope you may consider consulting with someone there who is a really good Homeopath. Maybe that path will lead to more help for your son. My family member was given a supportive amount of vitamins and minerals and occasional herbs as well during treatment. I was told it would take about 4-5 years and indeed it did happen that way. Amazing when you consider the other options . The principle is - clean out the body and it can heal. Most best wishes to you both .
