Guest guest
Dear group: I recently posted the following material in another bipolar egroup dealing with alternative therapies for bipolar. It was in response to a person considering the use of Pure Form 20 and WAC blends of amino acids (from Jomar) for bipolar disorder without the use of other supplementation and natural measures first. I thought that some persons in this egroup might find the material below of interest. Lastly, if this post comes through with the word " bipolar " in blue with an underline (it might or might not), I wish to apologize in advance for this. Sincerely, Allen Dear (xxx): I would NOT recommend the Pure Form 20 and WAC blends of amino acids from Jomar as a first line of defense against bipolar. Yes, these two amino acids can be " rocket fuel " for the brain. However, they need vitamin and mineral support in order to work. In addition to this, these products need added tryptophan, the essential amino acid that is missing from these blends. And lastly, these two blends are not safe to use for bipolar unless the person in question has defined and is currently successfully using an inhibitory amino acid regime (such as taurine, tryptophan, and GABA as an example) as well. Some other persons in this egroup have some real good ideas in regard to what to supplement with to control bipolar symptoms if money is an issue. I'd sure lean more toward their suggestions if I was you. The use of amino acids such as Pure Form 20 and WAC comes AFTER the use of other healing modalities for bipolar, such as fish oil, vitamins, minerals, probiotics, digestive enzymes, addressing the possibility of hidden food allergies and intestinal dysbiosis, etc. In many instances, addressing the aforementioned may work so well that the use of broad based amino acid supplementation is not necessary at all. The " single supplement " routine that I am most impressed with for Bipolar is that of the Truehope suppplement, or " its perhaps somewhat better copycat " from Equilib. A supplement such as Equilib (or Truehope) is " a first line of defense " approach to bipolar disorder, as it is broad based vitamin and mineral support, and it has it been proven effective for bipolar disorder in some (but certainly not all) cases. Combining a supplement such as Equilib with fish oil is probably much better than using Equilib alone. And combining this Equilib/fish oil supplementation with addressing the probable malabsorptive issues of hidden food allergies, intestinal dysbiosis, and a possible lack of digestive enzymes may be a far better approach yet. Since 1997 I have had extensive experience with the use of amino acids to ameliorate bipolar symptoms, and yes, these are powerfully helpful supplements once you know how to use them. But amino acids, despite all they can do, are NOT the first line of defense against bipolar disorder. Lastly, the instructions on the bottle of Pure Form 20 and WAC blend in regard to what dosage to use are not real valid. Everyone has a different need for dosages of this stuff. Amino acid dosage is an individual issue. The same dose of amino acids that may greatly help one bipolar person may hurt another. This applies to both blended amino acid products and individual amino acids. The general rule that usually applies here is to start at a minimal amino acid dosage and then titrate up slowly over days/weeks, while monitoring oneself for effect. I sincerely hope that this information is of help to you. Allen
