WASHINGTON Ñ An aide to Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., was

arrested

during President BushÕs swearing-in last week for disorderly conduct.

Nathan Ackerman, who works as a producer for the Senate Democratic

Communications Committee, was one of six arrested during the ceremony,

according

to U.S. Capitol Police spokesman Michael Lauer.

Ackerman displayed a protest sign on the Capitol grounds during the

swearing-in. He

was arrested after he refused police requests to hand over the sign.

The story was first reported by The Hill, a political trade

publication in Washington.

Calls to Ackerman at the communications committee were referred to

ReidÕs office.

Ackerman had Inauguration Day off, as did most other Capitol Hill

workers, said Reid

spokeswoman Tessa Hafen.

ÒSenator Reid wasnÕt aware of the incident (at the time) and doesnÕt

condone or

support it,Ó said Hafen, who had no further comment.

On Inauguration Day, five people were arrested by Capitol Police

during the swearing-

in ceremony for disorderly conduct, and a sixth for unlawful entry,

Lauer said.

Generally, people arrested for minor crimes by the Capitol Police must

pay a fine and

are released and given a date to face charges in D.C. Superior Court,

he said.

OK, I think you're right...maybe your offspring will
