Guest guest
Hello again. : ) I'm currently taking 5-HTP. My questions concern brands and exactly how to take it. I started off with Thompson, and had no problems with it. But running out of it before I could get back to the health food store, I simply picked up a Natrol version of 5-HTP at the local pharmacy. Ouch! Major heartburn. But why? The silica in it? The fact that it doesn't have 'Alpha Galactosidase' in it (as the Thompson does)? Usually, I never have trouble switching brands, but this time.... Is there a difference? And just doing a little research today, I see some brands come with an enteric coating. Should I be taking a 5-HTP supplement that has an enteric coating? How much of a difference is there? (Translation: I'd like to keep taking the Thompson, but since it lacks an enteric coating, will the product still benefit me?). Also, the guy at the health food store said take it on an empty stomach. I did and no problems (with the Thompson). But since I have an almost brand new bottle of the Natrol, I'd like to finish it off. Could I take it with food? How much of a difference is there (in terms of benefits) between taking it with food and taking it with out? Thanks. I'd appreciate any feedback.
